Looking for a really good, knowledgeable farrier to do my mare. Recently moved her to High Springs, a bit closer to me from North Ocala, and its too much of a hike for my farrier for just one horse. 
Needs to be proficient in shoeing show horses!! (Never thought I’d have to say that…)
Sam Mannira has been my farrier for many years and I have been very happy with his services. He shoes Tom Noone’s horses when Tom is in Florida. He lives in Fort White. Phone # is 386-623-2757.
Jesse is the farrier at University of Florida. He’s there on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. He travels in the area on his own time. I can’t remember his last name but call UF Large Animal Hospital and leave a message. If you can haul to UF, their shop is awesome and doesn’t cost any more than a regular farrier visit.
Tim Fowler shoes my horse, and I believe he does a few other performance barns also. Awesome guy, very knowledgable and takes the time to talk to you about different options if he’s (or you) aren’t happy with something.
My upper level eventer has terrible thoroughbred feet, and Tim took the time to try a whole bunch of different solutions until we found the best one (he gets aluminums glued on the front and nailed on in the back)
He’s based out of Jacksonville but makes regular trips to all over Florida, and if your horse pulls a shoe he can usually swing by the barn within a day or two to put it back on.

Good luck with Tim Fowler, he is a great farrier but impossible to get a hold of. Since he moved to Jacksonville it has been a nightmare to deal with him. He is never around and never answers his phone.Try Corey Radomski, he has been working for Tim and is taking over all of his customers.
Last I heard Cory was only working in Ocala. That’s why he stopped doing my horses bc he didn’t have time bc he had too many to do with all the barns down there.
You can try brian leith that is who we switched to and he has
been wicked easy to get in touch with and his work is top quality.

Cristobal works out of Ocala and is superb for trims as well as top-notch shoeing for competition horses. He trained in Belgium for three years and is a jumper competitor himself. He is easy to reach, will quickly come in an emergency and is totally reliable. We leave the gate open for him and he works solo on our horses- both he and we are happy working alone- he and we are people of few words although I have missed my conversations with him in French and Spanish on subjects ranging from art and architecture to the horse show world and cuisine. When our weanlings join their new owners or Monica on the coast, the resident farriers there are always amazed that they can go in the field and put a rope over the neck of the young ones and they will stand for their trims. We have worked with him for years and have never been disappointed.

Completely disagree with you.
Tim has been shoeing for me for over 12 years. He always, always returns messages promptly and has never let me down. Tim is all about customer service and goes that extra mile to make his clients happy, even when I have time constraints and a horse shipping out of state to a new home…Tim goes out of his way to make it work.
I’ve heard good things about Tim Fowler. He does most of the horses where I board and their feet look excellent.
Peter Kolacia is also very good I’ve used him for 2 years no complaints.

Just curious… how much do you pay in the Gainesville/Ocala area for trims? I have heard prices all over the board from reasonable to what I would call ridiculous - for me anyway. Just moved to Ocala and really interested in knowing what is average?
I pay $35 for trims, $170 for 4 shoes. I have paid more.
Tim Fowler did my horses until he left for a year or so. He does a good job, but is expensive. I like my new guy and he is less expensive…
From my experience with r.f.s- poor work, unreliable. Very unprofessional. Impatient with horses
