I have the Motionlite jacket in Primitova. I guess its maroon or is it burgundy? Anyway, I need help picking out boots and helmet to match.
Black goes with the maroon color range better than anything and is acceptable traditionally. Also black boots can be bought off the shelf. And they match your tack.
Brown boots are really the only other color off the shelf. Not a good look with maroon.
Black will work, but if having fun, maybe navy?
Black, but maybe go with some fancy detail such as patent or fancy leather tops.
Navy leather looks like black from the sidelines. I’m not sure it’s worth the cost of custom to go navy. If you were going custom you could try to match the maroon though that’s a finicky color with many gradations. And I don’t think there are maroon helmets.
can’t you paint them?
I have never heard of anyone painting a helmet. I wonder if it compromises the shell? Eventers sometimes wear colored cloth helmet covers, like jockeys.
What color is the horse? I think I’d go navy or black, myself, with a strong preference for navy, and light beige breeches.
There are gray helmets and gray goes with burgundy beautifully. You might also be able to get black boots with gray accents to match.
I would not try to go matchy matchy ( to quote Timm Gunn) as you will likely end up with three different burgundy tones. Go black and classic.
FOr boots, check out Romitelli boots. Very comfy soft leather, lots of colors and trim details, not stupidly expensive. Burgundy and grey is stunning together, and there are many grey saddle pads, and I have a grey helmet, so they are out there. ANd grey gloves! Here is a link to all their leather colors. (I wear them as do many of my friends… ) https://www.romitelliridingboots.com/gallery-03
It can, depending on the type of paint used. Most of the helmet painting advice available is aimed at motorcyclists. Equestrians more commonly use cloth covers.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions. You’re right, there are no burgundy helmets out there.
Posting Trot - I like your idea about gray. How about light gray breeches with gray pad and gloves. Then black boots but not sure about a gray helmet also. Would that be too much gray? Maybe black helmet and boots.
Lorilu - I will definitely check out Romitelli for boots. Black with some gray trim?
My horse is dark, almost black bay. So really anything will go with her.
About helmets, i’ve seen several that are two toned gray and black.
the two dark bay horses i’ve had both had mealy-mouths and a tinge of hue to their under bellies and a bit of lighter colored fringe on the hairs behind their front cannons… And in both cases i’d say they were a goldish tone underneath their darkness. Neither one had a reddish tendency to their coat colors. I would have had to go goldtone with both of them
KEP will do custom helmet colours, though they aren’t cheap at all.
Have a play on the Kingsley boot configurator.

You select the style of boot and then you can pick and match whatever colours you have available, plus trim. It’s a lot of fun.
If you don’t go too overboard, the base models are quite reasonable for a semi custom boot.
