Makes his first start today.
Just out of curiosity, why is Faversham special to point out? (below, yes, answered my own question )
Many horses this time of year are getting their first start and his was a name I didn’t recall.
FWIW, Faversham is a 3 year old ridgling that appears to be CC’s younger brother… By Lucky Pulpit out of Love the Chase. Morning line puts him at 4/1, 3rd favorite.
Race 3 at Santa Anita today.
While he does not have all the chrome that his brother has, Faversham is quite the looker.
A game 2nd is nothing to sneeze at.
The chart looked quite impressive. I bet he’s thinking about what happened today now, back in his stall, and figuring out how to improve things just a wee bit more next time out. Nice try for a first timer. Was anyone here at the track live today?
Watched the race live on TVG.
He looked good (well, down the stretch anyway ).
Last by quite a bit down the backstretch and I figured he was out of it.
Jock started shaking the reins and scrubbing a bit around the far turn and he started rolling.
Very nice closing 2nd.
TVG interviewed Art Sherman before the race and he reminded the viewers that CC was 2nd in his first start as well and Art figured Faversham would do better as the distance increased. Faversham was out for his 2 year old year with shin issues
I’ve had him on my virtual stable since he went into training as a 2 yr old. Saw his name in a news release somewhere, and thought he would be a good one to add there. Figured he had to have shin issues and a trainer with long term goals for him. Workout times were always encouraging until the lay off. He will be fun to watch if he has the talent like his brother. Too bad he’s a rig.
It’s great to be living in a time where I can be sitting in the frozen arse north, far from the hubs of racing activity, with sketchy internet access, and get sent workout times and entries and race results automatically. I can’t watch the races live though unless they are covered on regular TV. Perhaps I will get to see him race on the first weekend in May?
No worries… if he performs on the track and isn’t gelded they can breed him. Many name stallions are… Summer Squall, Honor Code, A.P. Indy, American Pharoah are a few…
