It’s that time of year! What is your favorite brand of body clippers?
I’m looking for something not too heavy and easy to hold in your hand.
The Andis 2-speed ones: http://www.amazon.com/Andis-22360-2-Speed-Professional-Clipper/dp/B0018KVI5M
Mine came with the wider T84 blade which makes it as wide as some of the larger Oster and Lister clippers.
I just body clipped my whole wb with this clipper and they worked great. They are super quiet, light, and they don’t vibrate too much, so your hand doesn’t go numb!
I’ve also got the Andis clippers shown above with the wide blade.
If you want a true body clipper, then Andis also makes a larger version - I think it’s called the Progress. If I were clipping multiple horses I would go with the larger one.
Andis AGC’s - small, light weight, easy to hold, quiet, do not blow hair into your face… I could go on and on.
I used to “pro clip” had the big variable speed Oster Clip masters. HEAVY, loud, obnoxious fan that blasts the hair at you… nope, won’t be going back to the big boys!
And the other big ones on the market now… well they cost twice as much, and I am happy with the AGCs so have not tried them!
Thank you! I have always used the huge, heavy blue Oster clippers and they are great for the body but just get too hot and really tire out my hands and arms. I usually use the T84 blade on the legs but have never used it on the whole body before. I like to do a very close clip. Will look into these clippers!
Have a look at the new Wahl KM10.
I have the A5’s and I really like them. I was new to clipping 4 months ago and bought these as my first pair and have since clipped 3 horses full, and occasionally trimming. They worked really well and I like the blades, but I did switch to a T-10 blade for full clipping since it matches the #10 blades easier. As long as you have 2-3 blades for clipping and check them frequently for heat, they’re good. Probably took me 2 hours to clip my first time, and it was actually good looking. No awful lines at all.
I have a Heiniger Sapphir Cord clipper. It’s small, very lightweight, very quiet. An excellent clipper, imo. I could clip a big WB without a problem last winter.

No need! I own both sets of Andis clippers, plus their new 5-speed set. I have clipped 5 in one day using the 2-speed pair with no issue at all. I save the Progress clippers for the disaster horses (when I show up and no one has groomed for a month, or the horse resembles a prehistoric creature with 6 inches of coat).

Good to know! I got my ACGs the same year I had to retire Flare, so no need to clip, and Zack doesn’t grow enough winter coat to bother clipping, so mine haven’t gotten much use. Now I know that if I ever do need to clip, they can do the job!
I love my Lister Stars. Barely get any kind of lines.
Another vote for the Andis 2 speed. I have also had a pair of Wahl KM2 clippers for the last 9 years, which I have been very happy with, however towards the end they over heated very quickly.

Love my Lister stars too!
I really like my Lister stars. They probably use mine for 30 full body clips a year and they are still going strong!
I sent my Listers last year to get something repaired on the motor, quick fix, love the clippers. During the two weeks they were away, I used my Wahl stable pros with a wide blade. Actually did a very decent job on the three horses I clipped. Light, quiet, and I would use again.

I’ve used these clippers for years with a regular 10 blade for face, legs, etc. I went to body clip this year and my horse freaked out at our barn set of body clippers. (I have no idea what they are, but she got clipped with them last year so I’m not sure what the issue is.) I purchased some T-84 blades and went about my business. Super fast, easy, and way less arm fatigue than our old school big clippers. I give them two thumbs up.
The Andis AGC 2 speeds are phenomenal. I used to have the Lister Stars, which are okay and some people love them, but the AGC with T-84 blade makes clipping a breeze! And I clip 3 horses quite a few times a season.
