Favorite books for learning best breeding/foal practices?

I am a pre-vet student who will be working with an equine repro vet this summer, and I want to be as prepared as possible. What are your favorite “how-to” books on insemination, stallion/broodmare management, foaling protocol, etc.? Thank you!

My vet (until he moved to the US) is Dr Juan Samper - he is a world renowned repro vet and wrote an up to date book.
He saw a few of my babies into the world.

Blessed are the Broodmares used to be a go-to book, but it is scary with what can go wrong! Had nightmares reading about red bag deliveries for a start!

That book makes you take foaling seriously. And as it should be, we had 14 foals born on our farm, 9 of which would have not had good outcomes had someone not been there. I was able to deal with all the problems presented by having studied that book. Including 1 full red bag delivery and 1 where the foal had broken through the front of the placenta but the placenta was delivered along with her. That one made me believe in fate as I had woken up before the alarm and decided just to go out and check anyway…

Angus Mckinnons book on equine reproduction is really great, it depends on your level of knowlegde, the broodmare books above are great books but for more detailed information you need to go more to books written by specialist vets
