I have really liked to fit and feel of Ariat Tri factor breech but wondering if there is anything new out there i’m missing out on? I have several tailored sportsmen but prefer the the stretchy feel of breeches . Any brands out there I need to try? I have seen the 4horse ones but not sure how they wash and wear long term for the big $$$.
Romfh Sarafina. Love the fabric. It’s fairly lightweight and cool in hot weather without being showing every lump and bump. They don’t stretch out and look like clown pants by the end of show day and they aren’t lowrise, which I personally detest; just a nice mid-rise waist that doesn’t gap. And Hallejuah! They are actually long enough! The white sand color looks really pale online but it’s actually a neutral light tan.
Agree 100%. And if you are small waisted and have any sort of a caboose like I do Romfh is perfect. But I can never spell the brand. Is it Rompfh?
I have two pairs of Ethos breeches and really like them. They have a neat cell phone pocket and are very light and stretchy.
The Wren style fits me best. I’d have to go up a size in the Logan, but they’re on sale so I might need to!
Struck breeches will forever be my favourite. I have 5 pairs. So flattering! I’ve actually lost a significant amount of weight, and am very seriously considering getting them all taken in because I can’t bring myself to sell them.
As a plus, made in Canada. Makes it a bit easier to swallow the price tag when you see the cost of them.
Agree with the Romfh Sarafinas, these are my personal favorite breeches. I haven’t personally tried Struck but they’re all my very discerning friend will wear so those might be worth a try too!
I love the Free Ride Equestrian breeches. They’re really flattering and comfortable, the waist goes up to a nice height and has belt loops, and it has side pockets. They are decently sticky and I would say don’t size down if you’re in between sizes.
So I oddly really dislike my Romfh breeches and I seem to be the only one! I think the fabric is a lot thicker than the Tri-Factors or my Equilines.
Romfh Sarafinas are the best thing currently on the market for my body, but I agree with you that the fabric is thick.
I want to love the RJ Classics Gulf and Anna but I just can’t. They have a great fabric, I like the colors. The cut does not love my body. If I want them to stay in place I have to belt them so tightly that I bruised my hip. Anyone want a pair in Duffel Green?
Though I don’t like the black triangle, the B Move Equiline ones are the most comfortable for me. I haven’t had good luck with Struck, I get a lot of bunching on my hips that I haven’t been able to solve by going up or down in size. I like the Ariat Tri factor too and recently tried the EGO7 “jumping breech”; they are similar to Equiline, but at least $75 cheaper and no black triangle!
They aren’t new, but I recently bought a pair of the Ego7 breeches and I’m totally in love. I also really like the Ariat Tri Factors, and I’d say the fabric is the same style. I’ve tried for years to like Equilines, but they never fit me right and I’m always disappointed by the fabric. The Ego7s fit beautifully and look so nice. I bought them from Fundis Equestrian for a bit of a discount!
As a cheaper, extra schooling pair, I got a pair of the Tredstep Symphony breeches. They fit true to size, it’s a stretchy fabric, and have very deep front pockets. They were about $90, I believe. I like them a lot and have to recommend them!
Last year I did a breeches guide on my blog which includes some of the brands recommended above:
Not included in the list (I need to update it) I’m a huge fan of Botori Adler breech tights. They are SO COMFY, have a cell phone pocket and belt loops.
For a more traditional look, I’m obsessed with the PS of Sweden Charlie breeches. They have a super flattering high and wide waist band. They were recently on sale for a shockingly low $80 too!!!
I’m generally an Ariat girl but I have a few pairs of the Free Ride hybrind breech/tights that I really like. They’re super comfy, I like the higher waist and the feels-like-a-tight-looks-like-breeches affect. The only thing I don’t like about them is the little textured silicone bits that are acting as a knee patch aren’t grippy at all. Compared to other silicone knee patch breeches I own these are basically like riding in yoga pants. But they’re comfy as heck so that’s my trade-off.
Love the blog post. Very informative!
Do you think they run small? I wear a 28 in TS, but they’re definitely tight. Wondering if I should do the 30s in the Romphfhths (can’t spell).
I am 5’10 with long legs and torso. I like a mid rise breech otherwise I tend to get a weird muffin top situation happening.
Note: I air dry all breeches every time and this has made a huge difference in longevity.
Longest lasting and mid rise: Horze Desiree (I have one pair from 2017 going strong, no silicone grip wear or anything!)
Lightest weight, high quality and great fit: Struck
Tech material and high quality: Schockemohle
They don’t happen to be a 32, do they?
I actually love the RJs, they’re my favorite kneepatch breeches. They wear great and fit me well. My only wish would be slightly larger pockets to fit my phone. I do also love the Romfh Sarafinas–I have both a kneepatch and fullseat pair and like both of them.
I wear the same size in both. The main size difference I notice, aside from the differing cut, is that the Romfhs run a little longer.
30, sorry!
The Sarafina runs true to size but is cut on the straighter side. Baby got back was written about me and I thought they were a little tight in the hips until they broke in.
