With the weather cooling off, my horse is getting to be a bit of a freight train cross country. We currently do all three phases in a single jointed eggbutt snaffle. At our last mini trial he had some redness around the corners of his lips at the end of the day because he just dragged me around the cross country course. He doesn’t have a hard mouth when he is supple, but when he wants to have a go he just sets his neck and jaw straight ahead. I sometimes put him in a Pelham for hunter paces, which does the job to keep him listening, but I don’t love dealing with the two sets of reins. My research here and elsewhere has me wanting to try a cherry roller. I’m looking at the three linked below:

Does anyone have experience with these or others? Recommendations? Thanks!
