Favorite crate padding for cold and hot weather?

First time having a dog that is crated (happy camper thankfully)! The former owner recommended fleece blankets folded over to make a mat. These have been easy to clean and dry in a flash. However, the weather is warming up and fleece will be too hot.

What are other options for hot weather crate padding? And does anyone use and like the foam pads more than using folded cloth/fleece? Or other ideas?

Special cooling mats/beds are available. My OB instructor with Pekes wraps an ice pack in a hand towel. A vinyl covered crate pad like Primo pads is probably cooler than fleece.

Competing in warm weather, I prefer wire vs plastic crates. Buy $20 battery operated fans at Walmart. Freeze the water buckets, shave the groin & belly so you can spritz the blood vessels near the skin, and shade your crates.

I use memory foam bath mats over a salvaged child’s ‘activity mat’. In the winter, I add a fleece in each crate and a fleece over each crate. In the summer, I remove the fleeces. If my fluffy dog wants to irk me, he digs up all of the lovely padding to lay on the cold metal tray then gets stuck with the mat like a teepee over him.

I adore my primo pads

I use straw. Tractor Supply has bales for about $15.00. I use about a flake/month.
I like it because my pup is still a chewer and will eat anything made of fabric.

PS o2cool makes battery operated fans, and I have one blowing into his kennel to help keep him cool.

I’ve added these anti fatigue mats http://www.lowes.com/pd_113086-73825-160-0700-35_0__?productId=3595540&Ntt=anti+fatigue+mat&pl=1&currentURL=%3FNtt%3Danti%2Bfatigue%2Bmat&facetInfo= (cut down to size) to all of my crates recently, and really like them. Really good in terms of padding, not expensive (you can even buy custom lengths in the store) and so far, none of the dogs have torn them up at all.
