Favorite Digestive Supplements

I’m looking for a digestive/gastric supplement that offers some buffering effect and all around support. What’s your favorite digestive supplement? What have you found that works or helps?

G.U.T by Uckele for stomach support.
SmartDigest for hindgut and digestive support.
Ugard Powder for buffering effect during meals.

My guy is on maintenance bute so I just order the smartpak generic probiotic and it keeps his tummy regular. he eats it fine with or without grain which is another plus. I’m glad to have no more runs though.

I have liked SmartDigest by SmartPak for two of my minis.

GUT by uckele. awesome stuff.

Totally agree on the GUT. Huge fan.

Big fan of the SmartDigest Ultra.

Also pour Apple Cider Vinegar on top of my ulcer-prone horse’s hay.

Another for GUT.

I’ve used in the past SmartDigest Ultra and Succeed. Love both supplements.

I love Gactrotech by Southern States. Best stuff I have used and it is only about 30 bucks a month.

UGard powder has done well by my pony. He is no longer “picky” with his feed and has gained weight.

I opened this thread because my senior horse (29) has lost a lot of weight & vet thinks the cause is that his hind gut isn’t functioning properly. I’ve had him on Opti-Zine, recently went to Probios. Despite my feeding him 15 lbs a day of alfalfa, plus porridge three times a day*, I’m getting no results. (Teeth are complete and good, worming is utd). His appetite is good & he hoovers everything up. Frustrating.

Are the products mentioned above successful in helping to regain and retain weight or designed to help prevent colics?

*6–7lbs TC sr. + 1.5 cups Canola Oil & 4lbs timothy pellets.

Stop Canola Oil. Switch to ground flax or coconut oil. Switch to alfalfa pellets. Easier to digest than timothy. I ordered Uckele GUT since so many have recommended it. It was fairly inexpensive from Smartpak.

I use Ration Plus.

I’m a huge fan of Equipride http://www.sweetpro.com/products-equipride.html

After sudden and persistent diarrhea early this year, my 36 yr old dramatically lost weight and started looking poor. Equipride really helped restore his condition, improved his coat and helped him plump up in time for winter.

My OTTBs in work are currently on Southern States Gastrotech and ADR Powder and it has been wonderful. Actually all the horses in my barn are on it and you know the second they are off it. But when I first got my TBs or for my older TB (29ys) I used Probios and love it. It helped my older TB gain weight in winter and it was impossible to get him to gain weight in the summer with grass. It really helped level his system out and his poo went from fluid to solid within 2 weeks. He now gets it every fall through winter to make his life easier. Best hes ever looked now.
