Favorite dog rug/ blanket?

The Kumfy Coats are really neat. The coat itself is really plush and warm but there is also a slot in the front of the coat where you can heat up the gel pack and slide it in to keep their chest and belly area warm as well …

I have a sighthound x collie or spaniel of some sort. She has a fluffy coat but it’s quite close-laying. She’s built more like a greyhound and is naturally very lean and slim, so doesn’t have much insulating fat.

I’ve just ordered her a Bucas Freedom – it has the bib that goes between their front legs and then you clip it around their belly, much like a harness. The clip sits quite far back, where her tummy tucks up, so I’m optimistic on the fit. I haven’t found much else that works on her.

It should be arriving in the next 2-3 days, so I’ll update! They have a 50g and a 300g. So far I’ve only ordered the 50g, but if it fits well I’ll order the 300 as well for the colder winter weather when it hits.

Eventing Maff, your link doesn’t work. :frowning:

Where did you find the Bucas rugs for dogs? I can’t find them anywhere, and I would love to try them, the design looks sensible. My current dog needs a 24" spine length, not sure how the Bucas fits. Have you received yours yet? Where did you find it?

Current dog is also not fond of Velcro, so any suggestions for a rug with crossing surcingles like horse blankets have?

Foggy mountain really can’t be beat if you’re looking for a horse blanket style of dog coat, but that style also really doesn’t do much to keep the belly warm. Used to be a huge fan, but have really gone away from it in favor of “dog” styles.

The Back on Track blanket has no Velcro. Sounds like those Hurtta blankets mentioned earlier might also work?

I think that Dover brand has some that have criss cross surcingles. I don’t like those as much (Bailey can’t stand still long enough!) but I like it a lot when I take her to the farm and the other dogs have figured out how to pull the velcro…but they can’t pull the buckles.

I just bought a really nice one from Duluth Trading Company. Its blaze orange with reflectors and has a fleece lining… My dog is a bit of an odd shape so the drop is a little long so when I first put it on she’s a bit offended that her front legs feel like they are “restrained” a bit but once she gets running she forgets about it!

I never would have thought about dogs figuring out Velcro! That made me laugh.

I will peruse the ones mentioned, I didn’t mean to divert the topic or the OP.
