Just curious as to what everybody’s favorite horse supplements/products that are made in the USA. Please share!
Omega Fields Omega Horseshine.
Horsetech anything
Define made in the USA… a lot of ingredients, packaging etc. will be imported even if it’s assembled in the US.
I feed two Mad Barn supplements, but everything else is made in the USA to my knowledge. They’re all “favorites” of mine:
- KIS Trace
- Omega Horseshine
- Nutrena’s Empower Boost
Anything Equine Elixir’s. I loved Kalmikaze & Ulcereraser when I still had my horse here.
I use green Mountain Hoofbeat, but they make a variety of supplements.
I’ll third Omega Horseshine. I’ve been using it for years. I think I have a discount code for them that might still be active for anyone shopping- “HUNKY10”.
Equiderma
Vetericyn products.
Made in California. Every one I’ve used has been great.
Thanks so much for your support! For those unfamiliar with us, we’re a small, family-owned company based out of Iowa that’s been making products right here since 1999.
Another vote for Horsetech, the supplements and customer service are top notch!
Thanks for that thought. At this moment in time, I am just looking for things that have the stamp ‘made in the USA’ on it.
Good one!
Thanks so much for everyone’s comments-would love to see more!
Purple Magic Hoof products are fantastic, I believe Equifit is still made in the US, I have crops custom from Tack Shack of Ocala, lots of made in USA halter companies. Equine Bonnets and If The Bonnet Fits are both small USA companies. Just some off the top of my head.
Note that there are two types of “Made in USA” claims - unqualified and qualified, and the FTC has jurisdiction over that claim.
Complying with Made in USA Standard
An unqualified claim is where the product has met a certain threshold that “virtually all” manufacturing occurs in the US with US sourced materials.
Qualified is where the extent of the US manufacturing/sourcing is described. Omega Horseshine has a qualified claim:
Also there’s no requirement that a product sold in the US be labeled as Made in USA or disclose the US content. (With the exception of a few things like cars and textiles.)
If a product/good is imported into the US, CBP determines whether it must bear a foreign country of origin mark.
Even if CBP doesn’t require this, you still have to consider the FTC requirements to label it as Made in USA.
So there are probably a lot of US made/sourced products out there that don’t want to go through the hassle of officially marking their products as such.
So in essence instead of just looking for a “Made in USA” stamp, you could also consider products that don’t have a foreign country of origin mark.
Clear as mud, huh?
