That is chunks in gravy… she will NOT eat pate. You’d think she’d be more grateful since we rescued her from a car engine a 5 weeks old, but no. The brand I’m currently using has changed a bit and is going up in price so I figure I might look at other options. I got a few cans of Weruva… she liked it, but I feel like she leaves a lot of it because it’s actually shredded chicken. She seems to prefer the big chunks. I’ve given her the Wellness before so that’s an option.
I wanted to try the Earthborn Holistic, but can’t find anywhere that sells individual cans and don’t want to buy a case if she won’t eat it… If anyone knows of somewhere please let me know!!
Any other suggestions? She currently gets a 3oz can split AM/PM and also gets dry ToTW (about 1/4c a day).
Hmmm…my two favorite are pate–Before Grain and Hound & Gatos.
Petite Cuisine or Tiki Cat for chunky? They are my go-tos when I’ve got a sick cat that doesn’t want to eat.
Ours is partial to Wellness.
One of the local independent pet stores here has a lot of types of food available in “sample” sizes you can buy separately. I would maybe find an independent store in your area and ask. I’ve found the employees at mine (its called Unleashed and has a few locations throughout North Carolina) to be extremely informative and happy to help.
I loff Earthborn Holistics. My kitties have been eating the Harbor Harvest canned for awhile now. Highly recommend. Even Mr. Picky has no complaints. :yes:
If you really want to try it, I have a fantastic store very close to me that stocks all the flavors, in the large and small cans. I could ship you some at cost, if you’re interested.
My picky cat has been eating cubed wellness really well. She can’t have chicken, so her options at petsmart are limited to wellness, blue basics, and blue wilderness… And she clearly prefers the wellness.

I’ve got one more place locally(-ish) that sells it… Going to call there today and see if they have the cans, but I if not I may take you up on this! I can just PayPal or something. Will PM and let you know!
My cats, who also can’t have chicken, are in love with the Tiki Cat foods. They have some grains in some of the varieties, but it’s only brown rice and not in huge quantities. All the fish varieties are the chunky type in gravy.
Fivesocks: the King Kamehameha variety pack is only fish, no chicken!

MSE do you worry about the cats eating too much seafood? I seem to remember reading on here (I think) that cats shouldn’t have too much. I can get BFF tuna food nearby and kitty really likes that too, but I only feed that once a week or so with my seafood concerns.
Another two thumbs up for Earthborn Holistics (and mine ONLY eat Harbor Feast, don’t are for chicken caccitore or the other one). They snarf this down to the last morsel! Didn’t like wellness blue buff or taste of the wild!
RedMare is nicely mailing me the flavors to try. If kitty likes them I can order them, by the case, from the same website that I’ve started getting my dog food from (www.chewy.com).
Another big fan of Earthborn! My DSH loffs his chicken caccitore. I buy it by the case and I am not a fan of feeding cats fish/seafood which, I believe all the other flavors are or some variety of.

Totally NOT complete for cats, though. If you only feed this, you’ll have some nutritional deficiencies pretty quick.
Fivesocks: personally I have never had problems with a just feeding the fish, but I do know how cats can get so easily addicted to one food or another. Unfortunately with a chicken sensitive cat, we only have so many options, lol! What I do is get the red meat based grain free foods, plus turkey, and then mix up my cans so that they are constantly rotating food flavors. I end up feeding fish about every 3-4 days and I’ve got really healthy growing kittens. Mine are breeding Siberians and still under a year old, but are thriving on this wet food regimen. They’re also not getting a full can, I split a small can between 3 cats once a day. They also get a pro- and pre-biotic, and a high quality vit/min supplement mixed in. Tuna is high in mercury and it can do some damage to internal organs. I would not and do not feed my cats fish. Period. I had an ex BF that feed his cats canned tuna once a week for 6 years, both cats died of liver failure. I blame it on the tuna.

Not to mention the added salt. I do give my cats sardines a couple times a month, though. They are bottom of the food chain, so lower in mercury. My local grocery store has one option (Brunswick?) that is just sardines and water or I order them raw.
OP, I think you’re going to have a more difficult time getting your cat to eat other textures if there is kibble available. It might be worth a try to cook some chicken breast for the chunks and make a gravy out of the pate to see if you can get her more interested.
I have the opposite problem with my cats. They eat mostly raw and will devour a chicken neck or quail leg, including the toenails, but only want pate when I feed canned. Lick up all the Weruva juice and leave most of the chicken. :no:
So thanks to RedMare my cat got to try all the flavors of Earthborn and seems to really like them! So I think I’m going to go with it. I’ll probably order a case of Harbor Harvest and a case of Monterey Medley as those are the two she finished off. I liked the look of the chicken one but I think the chicken strips were too big for her to eat well. Hubby said tonight he’s starting to be jealous of the cat because her food looks awesome lol. He said if there was some for shortage he’d seriously consider eating that cat food.
