What is everyone’s favorite half pad to use?
I have a CWD saddle that fits my horse well. I am looking for a new half pad to ride him in though. I don’t like to use half pads on him that are too bulky or thick. Any suggestions?

there are SOOO many threads about this already… here’s a recap of what you will hear:
thinline
thinline
thinline
tad coffin leather half pad
thinline
ogilvy
thinline
thinline
…
Thinline! (Especially if your saddle fits well.)
The only other things I’d consider would be one of the Lamicell gel pads or the thinnest pad Tad Coffin makes.
I have both a thinline and equifit pad… I like and use the thinline a lot more than the equifit.
Ogilvy.
I just picked up one from Horze during their winter sale as an extra and was surprised by how much I like it! Thin but substantial padding and doesn’t seem to create too much heat, of course it is freezing here now
Thinline!
I haven’t tried thinline yet, but it’s at the top of my list now! Ogilvy second.
I love the Horze one, and I’m forever a Mattes fan.
Thinline Sheepskin Comfort halfpad. Both of my boys have their own and go noticeably better in them. I also really like Mattes pads, but the addition of the Thinline to the sheepskin pad makes a big difference when jumping.
Thinline if you can’t sacrifice any alterations to your saddle fit. Ecogold if you have a little wiggle room. Oglivy if you have more wiggle room.
I learned about the ecogold triple impact pad from the eventing board and I LOVE mine. I have an ogilvy too.
I guess the ecogold isn’t popular on this side of the boards but the horses LOVE mine too and go so much better in it.
Horses and I love my Ecogold.
saddle fits ok without it, but horse gives the pad two hooves up.
Ogilvy! I have the jumper and hunter ones. The jumper one used every day at home and still is holding up well and looks almost new! The hunter one I keep for shows and fits perfectly under my saddle so it’s not noticable in the ring.

I have the exact same set up and its great!
I use a Thinline Ultra for myself on every horse I ride. I have both the sheepskin and non-sheepskin versions; I use the non-sheepskin version far more and have the sheepskin version as a “just in case”.
Ogilvy! I want to get the gummy pad to see the difference in feel but I imagine it’s not much different. Highly recommend!
I’m really in love with my Mattes sheepskin pad. I also like Thinline pads. I have been curious about the Ogilvy pads, but too cheap to try one. lol
why do you want a half pad? Is it just for the look? Shock absorption?

I know for me, even though my saddle fits well, I use a half pad for shock absorption. It’s just my personal preference/opinion.
absolutely love my beval! Lots of people say its too thick, but it really is not! Worth looking in to. also much less money than mattes, etc.
