So I’ve got a fairly extensive horse book library, but nothing on feeding the horse! What are everybody’s favorite books? Is there a definitive guide, like “grooming to win” but what we put in the feed pan instead?
I like “The Horse Nutrition Handbook” by Melyni Worth. I like that there is substantial detail, without losing sight of the overall goal of a healthy horse.

The National Research Council’s (NRC) Nutrient Requirements of Horses.
That is pretty much the definitive guide on nutrient requirements.
The two nutrition books I have on my shelf are the one JB has mentioned above and David Frape’s Equine Nutrition and Feeding (4th edition).
I have David Frapes book, Equine Applied and Clinical Nutrition, and Nutrient Requirements of Horses. All are very good and worth reading. Equine Applied and Clinical Nutrition is fantastic and the one I consult the most.
Julie Getty’s “feed your horse like a horse” is in line with current best practices and user-friendly for how to crunch numbers and read hay analyses.
Here’s another one for the collection: Hay is for Horses
