Favorite Horse Tech?

I love my tech gadgets. I am not afraid to spend a little money on things that can give me data to help me see where we are at and even catch irregularities. Product I am interested in currently is the Equestic Saddleclip. Anyone use one regularly? There a few and far between reviews and some on YouTube are old. I have had two incidents recently that I knew there was just something slightly off in multiple horses but it took multiple days for it to get to be enough for anyone else to really see what I saw. Not sure that having firm data would have changed the care given before the source of the offness was able to be pin pointed but still would have been nice to have. Any other tech things that people really like?

I bought one, set it up and charged it, and took it to the barn to try it. It recorded like 1 minute of walking, no more. Probably user error, but then it just disappeared. I’m guessing I had it in my pocket and it fell out while I was running errands. Sorry I know this is not useful at all, just wanted to say that I was initially quite excited to try it! But not enough to buy another one.

What a bummer! I can see not wanting to buy another if you didn’t have enough time to know if it was something you really liked. My favorite tech item so far is my Pivo. So much so that when my less than graceful mare managed to kill my first one I bought a second. It’s not perfect by any means but a cost effective way to most of the time get my ride recorded in relative focus.

I have the Equestic. I like it, though I was disappointed to find that I had to have a monthly subscription in order to get the symmetry analysis. It is cheap — $4.23 per month with tax. Even with that subscription when I tap on the symmetry screen it tells me I need a higher level subscription to “enter this screen” whatever that gets me since I can see the symmetry percentage and change over time on the page without “entering” it. You do get a free full subscription for 30 days. But I didn’t use it fully enough to know what I am now missing.

I thought it was really good and according to it, my horse’s symmetry was barely off and improving over time. However, I still felt something was NQR and took her in thinking it might be something in her back since her symmetry was perfect. Turns out it was her LF knee. The vet could see she was not quite straightening that knee completely which caused her to ever so slightly short stride. Flexed that knee and she was 3 out of 5 lame on it. I was really disappointed as that was exactly the kind of thing I hoped Equestic would pick up on before it was visible to the naked eye. Well, trained naked eye in this case. I’m guessing it probably does better on hind limb issues.

I do like that it showed me that even though I would have sworn I worked equally in each direction, I work significantly more on the left rein.

I am sharing its shortcomings, but I actually really do
Iike it!
