Favorite hunter pony sires?

I stand Loafer’s Lodge Spring Ahead. I can personally vouch for his crosses with TB and WB mares. He is a touch below 12.0 hands. I crossed him on two warmblood mares in 2010. The results were great. In fact, his son Grande Moodshadow(definite hunter type), was inspected and branded by the Old/NA ISR Sport Pony Registry. Both will mature large and that is with mares who have good height behind them. He throws true to the section A’s. Producing little height. His get are proven in the Pony Hunters and Pony Breeding at the top shows in the country.

Love Blue Who as well. Had one of his babies for my daughter.

I would go with the “Blue Who” crowd as well. I have seen several of his offspring at some h/j shows and have really liked them.

Love this one, “Entourage” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObjrK-1w4iM

He’s too big for the mare in question. :frowning:

I have a small TB mare, 15.2 very refined dk bay with four socks and a blaze. She has had two foals. The first is by Sir William and he is now showing in the hunter division and doing great (was champion pony at Ludwig’s Corner). He finished off at 14.1 and looks a lot like dad.

The second foal born this year is by Venture Farm’s Falling Moon Merlin. She is just a doll, very refined and should be about 14.1h.

My favorite pony stallion, who crossed well with all types, has passed on. I haven’t paid much attention since then…sorry.

One more vote for Blue Who… His temperament is everything one could ever ask for! My 5yo small by Blue Who out of a Bailwick Fire and Ice mare is one of the most amazing ponies I have ever known. We were told about her when she was 3, same age as my daughter, by Sandy Holbrook, Blue Who’s owner. I refused to buy a 3yo for my 3yo and was heartbroken but knew it was the right decision…however, last May we went to meet Tiffany. She was at our farm 4 days later

During our multiple visits to Sandy’s farm Chandler, who is now 5yo, has spent time with Hootie in his pasture - hugging and loving on him. If I can every figure out how these forums work I will get a picture of the two of them up here.

The other small I would breed to a horse is Rowfantina Gold Soverign, owned by the McCoys in Vermont. However, he is old himself and his semen does not ship well. It is excellent when put into the container but arrives a little ehh…
My large pony, Champlain Larkspur, is out of a 16h TB mare.
He is doing his green year this year and was Champion at WEF this winter. He is absolutely amazing, beautiful to look at, BEAUTIFUL jump, and has the step size and temperament. Super super pony.

Good luck on your quest!

showjumpers66, who did you pick?

Just curious because I just bred my tb mare to a small sec. a welsh pony.

Find out Sat. if she took!

I am verrrryyy interested to see what she produces because she herself is a very petite 15.3, but her 2 Roc USA foals are huge!

My 4 year old is already 16.2 and her first foal and the second is just a month old and is twice the bone and size of my now 4 year old when he was a baby.

If the foal is over pony size, I may just keep him/her for myself because all her other kids are too big for me!
