Favorite Muck/Barn Shoes??

Ok so my waterproof Ariat Terrains have bit the dust after a year and a half, so now I’m on the lookout for new barn shoes. So what does everyone else wear to the barn??

What I’m looking for:
-Preferably waterproof (I hate the wet sock feeling)
-Hopefully not too ugly
-Comfortable (I have an old injury to my right ankle, so comfort is a must when I’m at the barn for long hours)

Sidenote: I CANNOT walk in Danskos. I have tried, I own them, and look like the blow up, wind, car dealership advertisement thingy. So anything other then those please!!

I have the boot Sloggers for when it’s really wet and sometimes wear the shoe ones to the barn if i go out just to feed or something, though I bought those mostly for gardening. Normal days, or when it’s slightly muddy I have the Ariat Barnyard H2O ones. They are waterproof, but not high enough for the level of water we’ve been experiencing lately. But they are safer for being around with the horses in terms of getting stepped on. They are comfortable. They are a bit of a PITA to get on and off, at least at first. And they are kind of warmish in the summer–i.e. your feet might get wet from the inside, not the outside. I have ridden in them just to walk around the barn.

I have pull on rubber boots from Target.

I have many muck boots… I have some zip up LLBean rubber muckers I like… but we have had a really wet winter and I was happy I bought these just before the rains hit. I love them. They are Ariats - http://www.tackroominc.com/ariat-bryn-gtx-mid-boots-with-gore-tex-p-21152.html

Oh, and I cannot walk in those Dansko things either…

Dubarrys. Ask any eventer if you’re not familiar with them. Nice looking, waterproof & comfy as bedroom slippers!

The LL Bean type duck boots are great too!!! I am a shoe fanatic!!

Love these. Comfortable, waterproof and slightly stylish:

Thanks everyone for the responses so far! I should probably mention, I’m in sunny (HOT) south Florida, so warmth is never an issue really for me

The slip on Sloggers are my favorite for barn chores in the summer when it’s not muddy, but they don’t protect your heel/ankle. You can hose them out to clean them and they’re cheap!

Second the LL Bean “Bean Boots”. They’re my favorite thing, and I’ve had them all. I work 6 days a week at a barn, and they hold up and are super comfy.

Merrell Jungle Mocs! I bought them almost 2 years ago after someone on COTH recommended them, and they are hands down the most comfortable shoes I own. Even though they’re barn shoes I find myself wearing them to run errands sometimes. I also have some muck boots but only put them on if there’s deep snow.

Well, thank you very much, enablers! Before reading this I never heard of the Sloggers, but took one look at them and I am so enamored of them that by tomorrow I will own a pair (Amazon Prime: further enabling the enabled). I will let you all know whether not they are as wonderful as they should be, based on their crazy patterns and prints!!

I have very large feet with prominent bunions and they keep changing sizes depending on how pregnant or how far post partum I am. I also have a bum ankle and it is constantly turning if I wear any sort of heel. Even my paddock boots have been a hazard recently. I don’t require arch support for comfort.

My my favorite barn shoes this winter have been my Hunter wellies and my LL Bean lace up shearling lined boots. I can’t fit wellie warmers in my hunters anymore so in colder weather I wear the Bean boots. For the summer I was wearing a pair of minimalist Saucony sneakers barefoot but now my feet are getting too wide again (8 months preggers) and pretty much all I can wear without discomfort is Crocs. I’ve just embraced the ugly and sucked up any pride I have left. I just ordered a pair of the band style that still has the top holes but no side holes so hopefully that will help keep some of the dirt out. For $15 it’s a cheap experiment. They have completely hole-less ones available that look just like danskos (mercy clogs) and others that are lower and wider (specialist and bistro).

love

Thanks everyone!! I have a pair of very muted, all black Sloggers on their way to me now  Hopefully I love them!!!

Follow-up: LOVE my Sloggers! They come in a number of crazy prints/patterns and in 3 styles, Something for everyone; they are inexpensive (remains to be seen as to how durable) but altogether comfy and fun!

Dublin and Ovation has similar styles to Dubbary at a MUCH more affordable price.
