Favorite Rubber Bands For Braiding?

Any recommendations for favorite braiding bands that won’t snap as soon as they’re pulled more than two fingers width apart? I must just buy super cheap-o’s because they all break so easily!

I usually braid with yarn but would like to try some of the rubber band methods I’ve recently seen videos of… but their rubber bands are definitely much better than mine.

I usually use the Jack’s ones from Bit of Britain. I do think they all get brittle if they are more than a year or two old though.

I love the Gymkhana ones when I use bands. I do prefer stitching them though.

If you use black rubber bands, these from Sally Beauty can’t be beat: http://www.sallybeauty.com/proclaim-rubber-bands-400-count/PROCLM48,default,pd.html

Cheap, durable, and they are super duper stretchy and don’t break. I’ve also seen them at Walgreens.

Get the silicone ones (they look shiny, not like a standard rubber band). I got a big tub of them from Horze a few years ago but I’m sure most of the tack shops carry them now. Horze only has black & white: https://www.horze.com/accessories/horze-silicone-rubber-plaiting-band/26213.html?color=BL

Thanks for the recommendations! Looks like the Sally Beauty ones come in brown too (tub of 450), for anyone interested. Now if only I can get my fingers to cooperate with the rubber bands!

The silicone ones like Heinz 57 mentioned. The ones I find for sale are usually in a fancier zip top package versus a rubber tub. Maybe Tail Tamers brand is what my local tack shop has? Something like that.

I have to mention, the Sally/Walgreens ones last multiple uses… someone “borrowed” an entire packet of my rubber bands and I was left with having to reuse old ones. No problem!
