Favorite shipping boots?

I need shipping boot suggestions - I usually use wraps but my new horse capped a hock and whacked a knee either in shipping or turnout immediately after I got him so the vet declared him a shipping boot only horse . The hauler said he was good to haul, just sat on the wall and rubbed his butt, but could’ve whacked the hock and knee in the trailer.

My past experience with shipping boots was that they fit my big jumper but not my cob TB. The TB managed to dance out of them on one trip so I’ve not used them since.

Are there any brands with more than one size? Good adjustability? Are the Rambo’s worth it - they look to have actual front of knee coverage, but that could just be the pics.

I like and have used for many years the Amigo version of the Horseware boots.
Knee and hock protection, not quite as $$ as Rambo (like the blankets, really)

Alternatively, you could track down hock and knee boots and continue using your wraps, adding the k +h over the wraps.

Hmm I do like the ease of shipping boots but stacking is an option lol

I’ll check out the amigos!

I just got the Schneider’s Duratech Elite boots in Medium for my TB mare and so glad to finally have boots that are not slightly too big. I’ve only used them once, so can’t say anything about durability.

ETA: I also looked at the Amigo boots, but they are fleece-lined I think, which I didn’t want for MD summer.

The amigo/rambos with the three huge pieces of velcro are much quicker to take on and off than the ones with multiple velcro pieces. If red is our jam and your guy is cob, i have a brand new set of Amigos needing a home

Does anyone know if the Rambos or Amigos are less stiff than the Dover boots? They are almost unwieldy.

Haven’t had a chance to put this plan in action but this is exactly my plan (+ bells under the wraps) for my horse who has some balance issues in the trailer while we work on testing different set ups and other things to see if we can get her more stable. I think it offers the most protection, even over standard ship boots, while also being safer in that they are less likely to step on them and pull them off/ down.

These boots meet your requirements and are the only brand I’ve ever tried that don’t slip down. Love them.

These look great!

Wow those are interesting! I wish they had beefy hock protection too since the capped hock worries me most

Hmmm I wonder if a US vendor has them in case I needed to return…

I don’t know what you consider unwieldy, but I don’t find them difficult to handle at all. Undo the Velcro, place them around the leg, and wrap the Velcro back up. Hey presto, ready to go

Mine are stiff and sort of inflexible- hard to shape around the leg. They are easy to put on. Maybe I haven’t used them enough to soften them up.

I’ve found mine stiff, but not inflexible. :woman_shrugging:t2:

Red or burgundy? If they are burgundy, I’m super interested. I need a pair by Friday. Lol.

They are the red Amigo ones :frowning:
