Favorite Stirrup Cup Concoctions

I’m co-hosting a tea this weekend with a local hunt and am in charge of the stirrup cup. Now I’m a simple gal and plain port is normally what I stick with if I’m participating in my own stirrup cup but it would be nice to offer some variety…

So what yummy variations has everyone encountered while out hunting? I’m not looking for flask ideas, just something for the prehunt. It is supposed to be 70 degrees on Saturday so we won’t need anything that entices heat to the extremities.

Opening hunt we offered mini Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s. But those will be offered at the tea after.

I typically do port, sherry and apple juice - tawny port and dry sherry. Ginger snaps go very well with port and sherry as do Walker’s shortbread/Lorna Doone’s. Also, I make fudge which goes very well with port and seems to go over well, but might be too warm for that. Those little cinnamon swirl rolls are also complemented by port and sherry.

That sounds so good!

Bell’s 30 year old scotch, neat.

Will it be warm enough for Mint Julep?
