Favorite Therapeutic Blankets?

I have a 20 yr old mare and I want her to feel her best. What are all of your go to therapy sheets? I have Rambo Ionic stable boots right now but I am not sure if I want their sheets or someone else’s. I do not care if it is off brand or something else, I just do not wish to start fights about the sciences behind different blankets. I would just love to hear what blankets you use and why. Thank you so much!

I have the Back on Track sheet, along with other stuff. My trainer recommended it when I was having issues with my mare being stiff in the cold weather. We got polos first and she did really well with those. We tried a few other of the smaller items and saw a difference when using them so we got the sheet. I can feel a difference when she’s been wearing it. At one point we got a couple of scarfs as a freebie when getting something else. My mother loves it and uses it all the time. There are a few knock offs of the same type, I’ve used Shedow(?) that I can get at Greenhawk in Canada. It’s the same thing different brand. Works just as well. That’s my favorite, only tried one other from a friend though.

I really love my Professional’s Choice Theramic sheet, as does my mare.

I used a Draper Therapy sheet for my OTTB who was known for being back sore. I found it kept him much more comfortable. I had a BoT sheet for him first but the fit was poor so it didn’t really work for his body shape.

I recently picked up a Schneider’s ceramic sheet on sale and am super pleased with it.

I have a BOT sheet. What I have found is that this therapy works well some horses but not others. Like with people, you respond well to certain things. I use it on one of my horses. I would not buy it again though. They are expensive and it does nothing that I can tell for my other horse. I’d much rather have one of the blankets that Farmvet sells but they are very expensive, even used. And you need to have time to use them - a good half hour or more before and after a ride which I don’t have.

I also use a BOT sheet with good results on both my horses. But I think it’s far more effective for loosening up/warming up muscles before a ride than reducing soreness/tension after/between rides. I use it most when I’m at shows to keep muscles from getting too stiff without usual turnout.

The barn i used to board at had a magnetic blanket, that you could run various types of cycles on. I’m not sure how much difference it made, but the horses loved having it on. But options like that are usually very pricey.

I have BOT sheets and Rambo Ionic. The Rambos get much more use because they fit so much better.

Exactly this.

I have made all sorts of alterations to my horse’s BoT mesh sheet over a couple of years to try to get it to fit better. It still pulls back and rubs the withers raw. Rambo Ionic just plain fits, and has the same benefits without rubbing sores if worn for more than 30min at a time. I’m converted.

Draper is excellent for my shivers gelding. There is a noticeable difference in the amount he sleeps, as well as his comfort. He lives in it during winter.

My friend has a magnet blanket from Premier equine. Her horse almost falls asleep when you put it on him. My mare is not such a fan though. As stated above, I think different therapies work on different horses.

Have you tried other types of therapeutic blankets on your gelding? Just wondering how draper compares to other types of technology you might have tried.

Just a note that Tack of the Day has BOT mesh sheets and lots more on sale today. $50 off.

Smartpak has most of its BOT items on sale today as well! Just ordered a neck cover and dressage pads.

He has worn BOT. I was more pleased with Draper overall. I also have a mare who wears them for an ankle injury. I noticed better circulation and less stiffness with Draper.

@joiedevie99, do you have the Rambo mesh sheet? I think I will get one. My BoT fits so poorly.

I have the original cotton one. Black with orange trim.
