I have a three year old mare (currently with my grandparents in Vermont) who I am looking to put into light training this fall. She needs ground work more than anything. I am looking for ground driving at most for her - mostly just more handling.
Anyway, I am looking for a reputable (and affordable) trainer somewhere in New England. Discipline doesn’t really matter, but figured H/J was my best bet for posting.
I’d contact Joe Forest at Horton Farm in Grantham, NH. I have (and other people I know have also sent him horses) sent a young unbroken horse to him and he did a wonderful job and got them ground driving, introduced him to tack and under saddle work and trail rode him and dragged him along to shows for the ambience. Call him and discuss what you need and make a reservation. He gets busy in the fall and winter months as the 2.5 years old get sent in to get started.
If it doesn’t matter I suggest Northgate stables in Newton New Hampshire. They do primarily saddlebred and Morgan but they are very good.
