Favorite waterproof breeches?

What breeches do you like for Spring or Fall when the weather is less predictable? I hate feeling wet and have a lightweight, waterproof windshirt, but what about breeches? What are your favorite brands as we head into fall??

I remember seeing waterproof chaps at some point?

I am looking for a pair of breeches for showing or clinicing in inclement weather, so chaps would not be appropriate.

My personal favorites are the Kerrits winter breeches. But, they do have polarfleece on the inside, so would definitely be pretty warm. Otherwise, I would try a pair of the 3 season riding pants. I believe Dover has them.

My favorites are also the Kerrits, which are water resistant, not fully waterproof.

I have a cheaper brand too. Can’t remember what they’re called, but they’re nowhere near as nice as the Kerrits.

Seems like there are quite a few brands that are techy materials that are water resistant, so you should have a decent group to pick from.

If you want truly waterproof, that’s another story. I did find these via google: https://www.equestriancollections.com/ladies-riding-apparel/ladies-riding-breeches/winter-breeches/irideon-aquus-waterproof-breeches-ladies I’m tempted to order them. I hate wet riding days where my legs go numb by the 3rd or 4th horse, and while the Kerrits prevent this for the most part, it still happens on the really yucky days.

Also, a good coat helps. I have one of the long Asmar coats, and that keeps everything but my knees pretty darn dry.

The price tag on those Irideon Aquus are pretty steep, but I did run across those today. Does anyone know about the Tredstep NanoTech breeches (Solo, Symphony, etc)? They say water and stain resistant and their demo video shows coffee and water rolling off. I know many winter breeches say water resistant, but I do prefer breeches I can wear in the spring/summer rain OR cooler days. I’m thinking I can still put a pair of nylons under summer weight breeches if needed.

Thanks for the suggestions so far!!

I have the Tredstep Symphony breeches and while I love them, they are certainly not as water resistant as the Kerrits. They dry quickly, but you can tell when you’re wet. Especially if you dump half a water bucket down your front at a show…

Hah! Thanks runNjump86  Guess I may need to cough up the dough to get the Irideon truly waterproof breeches!

better price here, plus reviews: http://www.adamshorsesupplies.com/irideon-aquus-waterproof-breeches-203164

This isn’t all that helpful because I am not sure they are available in the US but Horseware makes gorgeous waterproof breeches with a very thin fleece liner. They come in beige so are perfect for showing or hunting in bad weather.

I asked Bit of Britain to look into carrying them but I got mine in Ireland, so if you can find them? They’re great.

I just gave in and ordered the Aquus breeches from Winding Down’s link. I’ll update with a review once I get them.

Hilary, do these look like the breeches you got in Ireland?

Yes! That’s what I got. They do have a high waist which is more normal over there in terms of style. I was told they do snag easily, but they really are warm and keep you dry. So just stay out of the gorse.

Really comfortable and pretty true to size. I go between 26 (snug) and 28 (loose) and went with the 28 because they didn’t have any 26 left.

oh goodie!

I really love SmartPak’s breeches (all of them, lol), but these are some of my favorite- I wear these as normal pants more than I should… but why change when you’re so comfortable just because you smell like manure?

They’re also on sale right now! I can’t personally vouch for the pull on version which is only $30 on sale right now… but I’ll let you know soon

I thought mine were Kerrits, but couldn’t find the kind I have on line. They are in the trailer, so I’ll check this afternoon. But they are similar to this:

They are worn over one’s riding breeches, two zippers down the sides. They are completely waterproof, and have a full seat.

Downside --and do be aware of this, because they are waterproof, they are similar to riding in a wet diaper. They hold moisture IN as well as keep it OUT. To avoid this, I wear cotton breeches under them.

I found many in BLACK but since I use mine for foxhunting I HAD to have buff or canary. I only use them when it’s really wet out, and they are successful at keeping my legs dry. But, again, there’s that wet diaper feeling . . .

PNWjumper - have you gotten your Irideon Aquus breeches yet? Just deathly curious on your opinion of them!

Tropical Rider Toasties Elements or the StickySeat Eventer WindPro tights (which are more substantial than tights).
