And if you read nothing else, find the post about the shetland sedated by a sniper
The cover photo on the page was enough to get me to request to join this private group.
I have not Evented for ages, but it looks like a variant of the FB group (cannot think of the name… Redneck? Hillbilly?) that posted H/J tongue-in-cheek pics & GM-esque critiques.
That one is totally my fav!

The Jumping Clinic is a parody of the old Practical Horseman “clinic” by George Morris.
The post about the horse who fell into a canal is also highly recommended.
There’s another discussion of this site over on H/J. I am a member and yes, some of the stories are hilariously funny, as are a few videos. I have to scroll past the crashes after a while as I’m finding they are creating anxiety when I am in a jumping lesson. But, the ponies and small kids are fun (we all remember our childhood ponies and how “fun” they were and the antics we got up to together!).
The hunting stories/videos can be great too. The horse in the canal will make you laugh until you cry, seriously.
I do find the derogatory tone aimed at poorly piloted horses a bit tiresome, but I never comment on posts there, keeping my opinions to myself.
Aye, I agree. I think the tone directed towards – as you eloquently put it – poorly piloted horses can get a bit unfair. I know it’s trying to be funny and tongue-in-cheek, but I’ve come from the school of always giving the horse the benefit of the doubt. It’s not just being a twat for the hell of it. However, you can skim through a lot shight and find comedy gold. So it’s worth it.
Once, I commented on a post where someone had seriously fallen short of the funny. She posted a photo of a horse rearing sky high, completely unbalanced, rider clinging on for dear life, and had written something along the lines of, “He does this all the time. LOL.” Myself and a few others pointed out that this was so dangerous that it wasn’t funny. Yeah, honey, you probably need a vet to look at that.
