cardboard and duct tape??? omg

I am posting this because we had 3 dogs get sick on Taste of the Wild, one critically ill, two weeks before they recalled that brand. I got sick for two days… all before finding out about the salmonella. Vet bills north of $2500 and I’m po’d that I almost lost my dogs by feeding them “premium dog food”.:frowning:

well, not that it makes it any better, but people have been quietly pointing out for years that Diamond has a long track record of quality control problems- and that they manufacture Taste of the Wild and Kirkland brands in addition to Diamond brands. Dressing up one particular product in pretty colors and charging an arm and a leg for it does not change a “budget” dog food company into a “premium” dog food company overnight.
How do you think they manage to sell Kirkland and Diamond naturals for so cheap? cause they cut corners in manufacturing somewhere. Why would they change their behavior for one particular line vs. the others? they wouldn’t.

anyway, at least salmonella is generally a benign condition for dogs- most dogs don’t get sick at all from consuming it. Raw-fed dogs eat it daily and don’t get sick. Their owners are another story. The contamination problem will hopefully have good effects on the dog food manufacturing process- plants will clean up their operations.

I agree! What I don’t understand is why so many companies contracted with Diamond for Diamond to manufacture their foods. To me, that was simply foolish on their part. Did the executives of the companies hiring diamond do a walk through of their plant or research their production history? Either Diamond has one heck of a marketing team to set up smoke and mirrors but seriously people… These companies should have known better!
