FDR State Park-GA

FDR is under new manegment.

The people are really nice! They are really trying to do a good job.

They are trying to do some improvements and they hope to be able to put some camp sites in at some point.

The trails are beautiful. Most are rocky though.

Yes…very rocky. Hoof boots highly recommended. I know my horse wouldn’t have been able to go 20 feet without his hoof boots. They are beautiful trails. The tornado a few years ago took out a chunk of them but there was still enough left to have a good ride. We rode up to the scenic overlook and had a great time. Be aware that there is no water source in the day parking area so be sure to bring some with you.

The rocks are what have kept me away. Until that improves on the trails, I just choose not to ride there. Other places to ride without that aggravation and danger. They are beautiful trails though.

They can’t change the basic composition of the ground. Not my favorite place due to the rocks. That said the new folks are really nice. If you like to ride there I think you will be very pleased with the new management

The new folks are so friendly, the place looks better too. It is still a 60 year old barn but it is clean as a whistle. The horses look great. They have purchased some new saddles & other tack. They are really working hard to make it a pleasant place.

A friend of mine leads some of the trails on the weekends, so he & his wife took a horse for me to ride so I wouldn’t have to trailer 1 horse that far. We rode the cowboy trail with a lovely young lady that was from out of state. Great ride.

I really hope they do well
