Feed tubs in the trade fair

Does anyone recall the name of the feed tubs that were being sold in the trade fair tent? They were right near one of the entrances. Large black feed tub that hung low to the ground and had several shallow spots along the bottom of the tub for supplements. I can’t remember the name, and googling them hasn’t worked too well.

Thanks,
Susan

Pre-Vent feeders - the cups weren’t for supps, but for the feed to drop down in and slow down the rate of food hoovering. I talked to them about the feeders and they said they were working on a smaller version (I liked the idea, but I swear, those things were HUGE!)

Thanks! I must have thought those cups would be where the supplements would end up collecting.

I also pointed out the hugeness of the things to the vendor. He didn’t seem to think they were truly all that large, even when I said that my horse lives in California in a 14’x16’-ish stall, and said you could take it out when the horse wasn’t eating. As DMK said, they are working on a smaller version, maybe it was a corner feeder?

Is this significantly better than the old “stone-in-the-feed-tub” trick? That’s all I’ve ever used for my Hoovers.

Mostly just fancier…

Peggy - I took one look at that feeder and all I could think of was that great picture series of that horse that got herself stuck in one of those huge round water tanks. I figured I’d be extracting my young horse as he attempted to become One With the Feeder in his attempt to suck up some more grain molecules.

All I could think of is how much poop a horse could get in there and what a pain it would be to clean it out!

Yeah, I have a mare that constantly gets her feet up in her feed bin. This is a normal height feed bin. She finally broke it this week. Bad horsey. She’s incredibly “gymnastic”. She’s one of those stall climbers. I hate that about her (all her sire’s babies seem to do this). I guess I’ll have to stick with a rubber pan for now.

The bins did look cool, though!
