Looking for a quality dressage program for a young horse in NJ
Lauren Chumley is an FEI trainer and an eventer. If you can make it work she is a great choice.
Sammis is also in Pittstown. At the Racioppo farm.
Chumley is the absolute best! Assuming that she is open to taking the horse and that she still has space this Summer, it’s 100% worth a longer drive.
Those programs/barns have extremely different vibes, so you might find that one is a better fit for you than the other. Just depending on your personal preference.
Jamie Dancer in Millstone, NJ is wonderful with young horses. I took lessons with her assistant Melissa for years. I don’t know if that’s too far for you.
I don’t own a horse, but I saw many of the horses at the barn she was bringing up the levels.
Both Jamie Dancer and Lauren Chumley (who I have also heard wonderful things about) have Instagram pages, so if you’d like to see their riding, you can check it out there (I included links).
I know you’re looking for dressage-specific, but Jamie Leuenberger is a young event trainer who competes in dressage at a very high level and I’d also recommend her as both a wonderful rider and incredible horsewoman.
Came here to say this. Lauren is a great rider, a nice person, and has an excellent program.
Consider Annie Nienabor in NJ. She’s an advanced level eventer and worked with me previously. She’s fantastic! And works with a lot of green horses and horses in general. I can’t recommend her enough. She has lots of helmet cam rides on YouTube if you want to see her cross-country rides.
I also can’t recommend Lauren Chumley enough. She’s really the whole package. Sammis and Dancer are also great options as mentioned above.
That area has a lot of options.
