FEI Horse Inspection

I recently saw some photos I believe were from the first horse inspection for a CCI where the horses were being jogged in halters and lead ropes and unbraided and the riders were just in their casual riding clothes (breeches, muck boots, and sunshirts).

I was just curious if this is becoming the new norm for FEI jogs?

Where I’m from (Area IV) theres a lot of pomp and circumstance surrounding jogs but but we have very few occasions for them to occur so it’s a bigger deal around here. These photos were from the east coast so CCIs are far more common and probably not considered as big of a deal.

This has nothing to do with me outside of I love watching well turned out horses and riders strutting their stuff and living vicariously through them as they trot down the equestrian fashion show runway 🤣🤣. TIA

Probably a short format CCI? They tend to either be an on-arrival check or when the horse arrives at dressage warm-up.

That was probably the informal “in-barn” check prior to the start of competition. Vets check passports, TPR, and a quick jog for basic soundness of there is no formal jog (the old CIC format).

Yep - I’m also in Area IV & did my first 2*-S last month (in TN) - in barns were just as you describe, just a quick, casual jog - they were there and ready for us as soon as she got off the trailer, so soon I was worried she would be stiff from the trailer ride - but it was very low key.
