OK, this is just weird. Evidence that the FEI has finally gone off their rocker? FEI meets The Onion?

Apparently the marketing department does not adhere to theFEI drug policy. That is one strange trip of a video!
I would like to see the drug test results from everyone asscociated with that video.
That’s just creepy.
I don’t care what they’re on, I want some of it!
More studs on Team USA!
:lol::lol:
That is hilarious! The horse with the paparazzi was great.
I think the analogy of cross country to parcours actually kind of works.
That is truly bizarre. And creepy, and just wow I am at a loss for words.
Speechless. I’m not sure what I just watched. It is certainly different!
Ok, I actually got into that after awhile. Horse masks creep me out, but by the Eventing portion I was loving it. Agree with Zonderpaard that the parkour analogy works, and I thought the educational part was effective for non-horse people as to the points off for a bar down or a refusal. The “horse” crossing his arms and shaking his head is cute.
That was exceedingly weird.
I actually liked it. Weird but clever. It puts horse sports into visuals that a layperson might understand. The rest is just to get your attention. It seems to be working!
Honestly, I feel like a non-horse person would feel even more confused after watching that…
I can’t quite put my finger on the vibe of the video. I like that it brings equestrian sports down a normal person’s level, but what does it sacrifice in return?
Except for at the very end, it has such a goofy feel that one comes back with the idea that they are making fun of equestrian sports. Again, on the defense that the video is helpful for the common person, who needs more explanation, its not!
The video is actually demeaning to them. I’m sure a common person can understand the bond between horse and rider, along with a few simple explanations of the rules without such a bizarre take. We have a hard enough time portraying an inviting yet dignified sport to the public already. Those who don’t understand horse sports, either love them because of an ageless fascination, or make fun of them because they simply think they are ridiculously silly.
As much as I myself, would enjoy a lighthearted horsey video, I can only say that a video of this type destroys the hope and fascination of the former and ensues the laughter and hilarity of the latter.
I have to note right here though, my take on this video is not that it is a world ending catastrophe…in the end it is just a video:lol:. While the video may be taken lightheartedly, I feel that the video is a bit insulting to all including the obvious drunks who made it, but thats just my take on it!
What strikes me is a lack of confidence in their own sport. Would runners need to show images of dancers, rowers images of horses? It is possible to show partnership and skill and beauty using images of horses and riders doing their job. Yes, inform people but that was simply confusing.
Its just awful! I would not send this video clip to anyone as a representation of our sport. I sure hope it did not cost a lot of money to produce. Hopefully it will just fade away and never been seen again by the public. Truly embarrassing.
Hate it They lost a great opportunity. I appreciate excellent commercial productions. I would go back in to advertising if I could start over. This does not inspire me or make me tingle over being a horsewoman
at least Archie McPhee earned some money selling them the headpieces
it is plastered all over the FEI.org web pages looking for Rio results
Its great. Its Funny. Its clever.
Can’t believe all the critics here, loosen up folks… Laugh ,Enjoy!
This can’t have been aimed at the U.S. market.
If you look at pop culture in Asia, South America, and some areas of Europe I think the 80’s dance vibe and music, while all the rage here and the in the U.K. IN THE 80’s, it is much more popular today in Asia and Eastern Europe than it is in the U.S.
It was an odd production. Perhaps if I was a young person from outside the U.S. it would be cool?
Our (Western) music still has a strange and interesting influence around the world.

I think the FEI was targeting a different audience. Not the U.S.

I hope this is true.
I think it was a lost opportunity. I love the idea (explaining the equestrian events just enough so a layperson could enjoy it), but I think it makes a joke of our sport.
They could have done almost the same video with clips of dressage tied into clips of elegant ballet dancers. They could still use their high jump and parkour analogies, just not with fake horse heads. Show some awesome equine athletes instead.
I can see how some people found it cute and entertaining, I definitely watched the whole thing, but I don’t think it does the sports justice.
