FEI Trainers' Conference Wellington

I know some of you will complain that this is in Wellington (East Coast AGAIN!! - wasnt there one recently in CA? whatever) . Some will complain that the audience is limited (I agree). But reading this post, and the one that follows from the Wednesday session, might encourage some of you re: the direction of dressage in America IRT training. (I have not found the Tuesday blog if it exists) https://usdfdressage.blogspot.com/2019/01/the-right-path.html

Actually, it is not limited, people can lie about their level of riding/training to get in and that is fine with the USDF. They really need to just make it open instead of this farce of it being restricted. Thanks for posting the blog! I wonder if there will be clips uploaded of this?

The Conference is only on Monday and Tuesday. The second blog post was written on Wednesday, but it’s about Tuesday’s session. The author may have been traveling after the conference on Tuesday.

I have been to several of the FEI Trainer’s Conferences. I thought this one was excellent and relevant to a greater number of trainers than some I have been to in the past. There was more range in the level of horses and riders and lots of good information for trainers that are also instructors.

Thanks for posting the link, enjoyed it, excellent!

How could someone lie?
Criterias are clear for attendants. I assume it is checked.
Video, letter and results are looked up prior deciding on the riders.

Why are you interested in watching this farce?

It is not checked, the USDF does not really care if people lie about their level of riding/meeting the criteria. They just need to make it open to auditors and be done with it. The actual symposium is not a farce, it is the appearance that is is “special”.

Sometimes I think that because you live in Canada, you don’t really understand what’s going on in the US. I do agree with you that it is not ok that you can cheat to get in. A friend of mine wanted to go with me ( she was eligible) and I told her I am not so we didn’t go :frowning:
But it’s a very nice event and I would have loved to go :(.
I guess it is like in all big organizations, The stupid people obey the rules and the smart ones know exactly how to get around it…

You think we, Canadians, are too dumb to understand and that we don’t have similar organizations and events organized for the higher level/specific participants?

Fun fact, we do…

You realize that there was Canadians at that Conference… Friends of mine were there.

It has nothing to do with being smart or stupid…

Can’t imagine the usdf cares at all who pays $$$ and attends, it’s the participants who care to not have to mingle with the unwashed masses. Or that’s the impression I got from people I knew who were there.

I think you didn’t read what I wrote. It is all about beeing smart or stupid. If you are smart you go to the conference to audit even if you are not qualified and lie about your qualifications. If you are stupid you read the rules and stay at home…,
