Most of the major events have fence fault grids showing how each fence rode (ie., refusals, falls, etc.). Has anyone seen one for the olympics? There were 15 eliminations and as far as I can tell all of them were rider and/or horse falls. I’d be interested to see which jumps caused the most trouble and then try and figure out why. Just curiosity from a student of the sport.
So far the things that we are used to seeing from almost all FEI events don’t seem to be online anywhere yet. There are no detailed dressage score sheets with the judges’ percentages and/or the average percentages. Only the PPs are available. I seriously doubt if TPTB will bother with a detailed public fence report during the Olympics.
You might be able to get it from the FEI afterwards, though.
I think one was a Belgian rider who was E’d during a hold on course because his horse was lame? That’s what the commentators seemed to think had happened when he disappeared off course, and I did see someone checking his girth area pretty close while he was standing there… perhaps blood?
my thoughts and the Belgian rider
about the third fence which seemed to cause so much grief: Some one said it loked like an equitation fence. Someone else here complained about the ‘junk’ in between the two elements or numbered fences. In looking over Kat’s great photos, she detailed what those items were. They were folding chairs with musical instruments in them. It seemed hokey to me, but the description of that fence said it was related to a bandstand there in the park. So the instruments were relevant. Also, they were the ‘block’ so you had to go around them one way or another. It did look like an easy fence, but the angle must have been very sharp. I saw one person go around, took only a second, and no muss no fuss. Two falls and at least 3 refusals? Something going on there.
During one of the holds, I saw what I think was a Belgian rider, and apparently his martingale had broken. One of the ground people, I think the person who waved him down, helped him repair it. I didn’t think that was allowed, but I think he didn’t present his horse this morning anyway.
Nope, I think this is about Joris Springel, who was E’d on course.
Here’s the falls XC.

The rider from Belgium whose girth area they were looking at had a broken martingale.
I’m trying to do my dressage co-efficient analysis, and I cannot find anything today but final results for the individuals and those, which include XC and jumping penalties for both rounds, are only available for the top twenty five. The actual scores for the team members are not in the Team Results.
I’m going to have to wait for the FEI to put the results in their database, and might still have to ask for the actual score sheet for the Team to make this a valid comparison.
