Fescue free hay for pregnant mares

I have been feeding my pregnant mare orchardgrass/alfalfa and coastal. I know the coastal is fescue free. Not sure about the orchard alfalfa? It’s from Canada if that helps any.

How do your recognize fescue in your hay or do you deliberate try to buy fescue free hay?

What about standlee alfalfa pellets? As that would be another option. I could switch to orchardgrass but I’m not sure what state that is grown in.

I could buy Perennial peanut hay as well, but I still have 26 bales of O/A I would like to use up first.

If it’s all orchard grass, or orchard/alfalfa, it’s not fescue. Orchard is a specific grass, not a catch all term:

Best bet is to speak to your supplier to find out if your hay may contain fescue.
