Field boots for super skinny tall calves and big feet?

Hey guys, does anyone have advice on off the rack field boots for skinny tall calves?

The smallest size of Deniros GAPE and the smallest Parlantis (which I have in XX tall and small) are still too big at the ankle and calf. I’m a size 8 foot and the parlantis say they are an 11.5" calf but there’s no way. I’ve measured my calf and it’s way bigger than 11.5. I know I have weirdly small calves, but I am not THAT small. There are tons of tiny riders so I’m always wondering if they just all have customs? Any suggestions, I’d rather not dish out the money for customs haha

Thanks!

You’ve got the De Niros in XXS calf and they’re gaping? I have chicken legs and got fitted and the De Niros came slim enough off the rack (I think I’m about 13" - 13.25").

I know when the Tredstep boots first came out, I tried them on at Rolex and I had to get slim and NOT extra slim because they were so skinny - that’s the first brand I ever had to get the second-slimmest instead of the smallest calf size. The ankle was also very tapered.

Ariat will never fit you - any time I try on anything of theirs, even slim calf, I can shove my hand down the top of the boot.

I recently tried on a pair of BR boots. They didn’t have slim calf in my size at the time, but it felt like they would have fit if they did (I tried the regular calf). The ankle seemed like it would be snug.

I only notice how weirdly skinny my lower legs are when I try on friends boots haha. The deniros (bought on sale) I use as winter boots and wear a fuzzy + normal pair of socks inside. The parlantis are closest and fit when new but stretched immediately :frowning: Maybe I should switch to jods and garters

I feel your pain. I have huge feet (9.5) and skinny calves for that foot size (13").

Definitely remeasure yourself again and triple check the Parlantis. The smallest calf size for me is justtttt too small, but the next size up is baggy, so I’m in between. I’d imagine unless you have insanely tiny calves, with a size 8 foot the S or M calf Parlanti should fit. Honestly, if Parlanti doesn’t work you will probably have to go custom, as they are the smallest calf sizes I’ve found off the rack

I’m a size 8, with a 12ish inch calf. I do have a pair of XXS Deniros (also bought on sale  ) - they work OK for schooling, but fit best in the winter with two pairs of pants and heavy socks.

I did get a custom pair of Deniros. They are fantastic.

Tredsteps actually fit me in the calf, but my ankles are extremely thin and Tredstep just wasn’t tapered enough.

So, yes you may have to go custom. If you have the risk tolerance you can get semi-custom from the UK for a good price. I will do that for my future brown pair

DeNiro – I also have a tall skinny leg and huge foot.

Deniro doesn’t work for serious twig calves and monster feet, though.

To use my own chicken legs as an example… I own two pairs of Parlantis in size 40 (9) foot - a pair with a S calf for showing and a M calf for schooling. The schooling pair is baggy on me. The S calf measures 31cm and the M calf 33cm. The same foot size in DeNiro with their smallest calf size (XXS) is 33cm, and that size isn’t readily available from SmartPak, etc. Deniro wouldn’t be small enough for me at all.

If you compare size charts for the semi custom brands, Parlanti and Tucci are the only brands I found that go smaller than DeNiro.

That’s actually what I show in now (Small extra extra tall size 8 parlantis and they initially fit ok but were baggy like a month in). I’ll might try the shipping in from Europe thing but it seems risky! I guess it’s customs haha.

Have you tried Ego7? The 39 extra slim extra tall fits down to a 12" calf, with a 20" height and I’ve found they run even narrower than the size chart indicates.

I understand the pain. I have Size 11 feet with scrawny chicken legs! The majority of brands don’t even carry up to size 11 off the shelf. Ariats USED to fit me, but now they aren’t doing the slim in 11! I’ve resorted back to paddock boots and half chaps :’(

I’m glad to hear I’m not alone! The extra extra tall Parlantis are too short and swallow my tiny ankle… They are the closest thing off the rack that I’ve found and I couldn’t justify the price knowing they would stretch. I’m going to do custom… Ooof the price though!

Go for it! I wish I wasn’t cheap about this and just went for a good pair of customs! Now I’ve spent a ton of money on multiple pairs of ill-fitting off the racks that I can barely wear. Totally worth it to do it right the first time!

My son is 14 with big feet and skinny legs an he wears the women’s Tuffrider Baroque in slim (I think they also have extra slim). They aren’t the best quality as far as longevity, but he wore his last pair about 2 years before they wore out so that’s not horrible for the price. ($150-200-ish). They do look pretty nice though. The leather is soft.
