She’s not bred, why can’t they retire her and let her live in a pasture somewhere? Someone will buy her cheap, try to get her in foal and if/when that doesn’t happen probably dump her at a cheap auction or worse. This isn’t all used up broodmares’ fates but it is for too many of them. There are a bunch of other old broodmares in there but they are at least bred.

She’s 14. Am I missing something here?
Her foal this year was born mid May, which is getting a little late in the year for thoroughbreds. It’s not surprising they gave her a year off, and just based on this there doesn’t look to be any red flags that she can’t keep producing. She’s 14, not 24.
No just that I can’t add or subtract.
What’s your definition of cheap? She’s going to sell for more than I can afford, I promise you that.
DH and I comb the sales for old or open mares that we otherwise might not be able to afford. This mare didn’t even make our list of possibilities, lol.
Her 2023 filly by Maclean’s Music brought $260,000 at Keeneland September 2024. Her 2017 foal brought $750,000, and her 2021 colt brought $500,000, both also at Keeneland September
With her race and produce record, you could legitimately submit this mare for a season to just about any top Kentucky stallion. Like Arzny, I wish I could afford to buy her.
I don’t have an opinion about the horse, but that is a fantastic name.
Sold for $42,000 to Korea.
Thanks for the update. Hate seeing horses go to S. Korea, a country whose retirement plan is unapologetically slaughter for 98% of their TBs.
