Final Four in Showjumping is set.

I expect tonight’s round to be in the 1.45 range.

I thought last night’s second course was softer than the first round. I’d like to think CH chose to ease up for the final round of the individual as by then it’s pretty clear who is going to advance and it gave the horse’s a relative bit of a breather.

As far as the format goes, everyone knows the size of the sandbox before they come to play. These four riders are some of the best in the world. I would have no problem legging them up on anyone one of mine.

Same here, but maybe not all four riders on the same day.

Yes, Gail Greenough won, but the interview where he said it was from before the final four started.

Eric Lamaze - Hickstead - Canada
Phillipe Le Jeune - Vigo d´Arsouilles - Belgium
Rodrigo Pessoa - HH Rebozo - Brasil
Adullah Al Sharbatly - Seldana di Campalto - Saudia Arabia
While I want Hickstead to win (I like lamaze too) that horse that the Saudi is riding is super!

I hope they all go as well as Cumano did in 2006!

I don’t recall Shutterfly freaking out in 2006. I do recall the commentators wondering if the “girls” could handle Jos’ horse, and they did just fine
Was it Shutterfly or another horse that one rider rode so fast towards the last jump that the commentators thought they’d crash? The horse jumped it at terrific speed.

Shutterfly did “freak out” as you put it in 2006. He got more and more upset with each saddle change, rearing and lunging, after that he was taken out of competition for quite some time.

I do hate the saddle change rule. Cumano’s saddle was so wide on Pialotta it pressed down on her withers so it must have been uncomfortable for her. Plus the smell of a mare’s saddle onto a stallion??? Think of the horses in the 2010 final, Hickstead is quite narrow, how comfortable will his saddle be on another horse and vice versa?

It would make more sense for the riders NOT to keep their own saddles, after all it is their skill being tested and surely if the “saddle fits wear it” should apply.

Given how carefully people fit saddles to the horse these days, I’m surprised people would want to switch as well. Are saddles these days so customized to the people that it’s really a problem?

I have marked my calendar for Canadian CBC coverage on the l6th (heard it here), so now I guess I have to log off from COTH before some spoiler headlines the thread.
No chance of learning the result from the local papers or news - to date nothing has been reported! It will be one of the highlights of WEG.

I also thought the course for the final was shorter and that they could only warm-up with maybe two practice jumps (or something like that.)

The final four in 2006 was thrilling to watch, especially with three women in it -just too bad one did not win! (I thought B Patton had opted to leave out a stride to the last fence for time–which I think she ended up pulling…)

I don’t think they have to change saddles, do they? Thought it was optional. Could be wrong. I agree, if it were me doing it I’d want to be in the saddle the horse usually wears.

Foxtrot on EMG’s home page they have up to date photos and articles on the Jumper riders at WEG.
If I recall didn’t a nice COTHer provide us poor unfortunates that can’t watch a link that allowed live streaming?

Ooo- where???

Wish Edwina had made the top four…awesome rider and the sight of the manly men on her “pony”…well that would be a sight to behold!!!

Exactly MHM!! I’d let any one of them ride my horse, and possibly all in one day, but NOT after 5 days of GP courses…

I also don’t like the saddle change - and having been at the jog, will say it is going to be interesting to see what they do with HH Rebozo as he has quite a lump on his back (not a roached back, but a big lump on the left side of his spine). Can’t imagine that will be easy to work around. And a true catch ride would be in whatever tack the rider was given…

Wasn´t there but saw him freak out on Swedish telly when they tried to put the saddle on him and get on him… With a sensitive horse I would be very happy to get in at 5th place…
And the girls handling Jos horse…that is one very well trained horse so no problem…

I’m surprised at all the people who want to jump a large course on an unfamiliar horse in someone else’s saddle. Come on, that would be unnecessarily mean.
It’s the rider’s saddle, not the horse’s saddle.
