Finally read "Hot Blood" -- so where are the players now?

No, they divorced years ago. She lives in NY with their daughter.
Buddy (recently remarried) is a course designer.

That is no secret in Lexington. Why the groom ultimately coughed up what he knew…nobody would have anything to do with him. Racing is tough business but most of the grunts in the trenches have standards and the best interests of the animal at heart.

Too bad mega money will delay and continue prosecution of what everybody knows what happened.
Another thing for any of these folks to gain any respect locally however. What goes around does come around, just takes awhile sometimes.

The Horse World. 2 people, 3 opinions. That’s the way it is.

This has been discussed at length in the past - there are a certainly people who were involved, even if on the perifery, who are still active in the horse business.

All these old threads are now closed. Read them and weep!

Found the view, just a-lookin’ fer some $$$$

Silas Jayne is a great uncle to the “Jayne Kids” (Maggie, Charlie and Haylie). He was one of the brothers of Alex’s father. Silas did not have any children, so any talk of his son is incorrect.

I didn’t know Buddy was remarried, I knew he was ingaged, but i didn’t think they were married yet.

I believe it is just across the canal on Pierson Road, which would put his place on my road… Appaloosa. The Jaynes place is opposite from his (more or less) on Appaloosa. Also, Todd M’s clients - YZ Farms - are there (the bridle trail splits their property.

Katie and Henri live on Appaloosa, with Cayce Harrison next door to their place … my little place is around the bend.

Very few lots left over our way. I remember when there were only two houses in the whole area!

George Lindemann’s girlfriend?

PV has a huge clientel. They show in Palm Beach and he gives lessons off the grounds. Getting richer… His wife competes successfully.

Barney sells a zillion horses and business is better than ever. He bought a house across the canal from the DeNemethy ring (Palm Beach) and he can watch every class (and Grand Prix) held in that ring. He isn’t on the grounds, but he might as well be.

And that is exactly what is so pathetic about the horse business. That people who could commit such attrocities are patronized by ANYONE in this industry is unconscienable and disgusting. They are condoning these actions and saying, “It’s okay to kill horses for insurance money.” They make me sick.

But then again, these are probably the same kinds of people who ride a horse 'til it breaks, then throw it away like yesterday’s lunch.

I’m sure this has been mentioned before, but what was Dana Tripp’s involvement? She is Dana Waters now. Sorry to ask a repetitive question, just hadn’t seen her name mentioned with these scandals before.

Brain fuzzy - but I do recall she was a middleman and introduced two of the guilty parties.
She was convicted of forging documents (coggins of all things!) - maybe something else… again, I can’t really remember. She did not get sent to “the big house.” She was under house arrest.

Funny how for a long time even after her license to practice was revoked horses turned up in The Chronicle results owned by “Dana Tripp Waters DVM”. They can take away her license but not her degree - still tacky to use it IMO especially after what happened.

Lindemann was into dressage (bought Graf George and was trying to get on the Olympic team)when he was indicted. After he was convicted and served his time, I believe he went into polo down in Florida. His sister, Sloan, still shows in the hunters. (Or, at least, she was showing the last time I went to a h/j show, two or three years ago.)

The general consensus seemed to be that Lindemann believed he was above the law, pure and simple. It doesn’t surprise me at all that he allegedly didn’t deny anything to friends, but I would have been surprised beyond belief if he had made a plea. I was in the courtroom for the whole trial, and GL was very cordial and friendly and joking the whole time. I don’t think he ever even entertained the thought of being convicted.

Isn’t Dana Tripp showing again as well, under a different last name? I think she got married.

Well, at least we know they are jerks.

ETBW–Wild Ride is a great book… I read it a few times 3 years ago or so, even though I didn’t exactly comprehend the VAST financial stats. The author did a great deal of research and thoroughly detailed everything; one of my favorite books… Tear-jerking, though.

I am in Wellington right now, watching it rain as it has done for the last 2-3 weeks.

My front pasture is knee-high, everything is mildewed, my back pasture looks like the sea of Galilee … and apparently the “new and reliable” yard service men have hit the trail.

Same old same old. I had an uneasy suspicion when I decide to pop down here unannounced that this is what I would find … LOL.

OK - finally read ALL of “Hot Blood” and wondered about some things:

What happened to Cellular Farms? Does Lindemann still run it, is it training jumpers, what?

The Silas Jayne mentioned from Illinois – is he any relation to the highly successful Jayne kids?

I know about Paul Valliere and Barney Ward, but are any of these other horse people who were caught back in action, or has the AHSA/USAE banned them still?

Just wondering what happened to the rest of the cast…

Dana married Chuckie Waters and has been showing in the jumpers.

I’ll second that - a great, albeit thin, book.

That whole scenario just disgusts me! I wish the parties involved had their legs violently broken, were forced to wait twelve hours in agony, and then electrocuted. Tit for Tat, I say.

findeight, I bow to your comments. Well said. And ditto. I just spent the good part of an afternoon at the Pegasus Foundation interviewing Helen Meredith. I’d love to see the two of you go off on a rant together. You’re soulmates.
