Finding a saddle for my mule

I am trying to find an endurance type treed saddle to fit my mule. I know a few of you own mules, and was wondering what you use? He is out of my QH/TB mare, 16 hands and a good weight, but just average in build. If he was a horse a semi qh bars would fit him fine. He has a little wither and his back is very straight and flat, but not wide. He is 5 and I started him last year in my old abetta endurance, it fit him at the withers and in width, but I think it was causing him some discomfort along his back and stopped riding him. Any suggestions? I can’t spend a lot. thanks.

You might look at these saddles. This lady custom-makes saddles for mules and gaited horses, and is very thorough.

Her prices are easy on the checkbook, as well.

Thanks !! I looked on their site and they do have a nice saddle that is in my price range, so I will look into it.

I went through 3 saddles for my mule, including a Tucker endurance saddle, and finally ended up with a Circle Y Flex 2 saddle. It is pricey and not 100% but fits her best of all the saddles I tried.

I have an endurance style saddle from Crest Ridge Saddlery that I purchased for my TB mare. They are very good to work with and the saddle has been great for my mare.

Thanks for the input. I sent Debra an e-mail and she replied quickly ( a plus). I think I will try them and it helps to know others are happy with their saddles.

Thanks a lot for the link! Finally I found a good online shop!

I have had very good luck with Debra’s saddle fitting at Crest Ridge.

My little mule’s lease mom got him one of the Crest Ridge saddles…says it fits him like a glove, and the lady was VERY helpful in terms of helping to fit via pictures/details.

There’s a fellow in my area who rides and drives mules, and makes custom saddles that everyone raves about. He very careful about saddle fit, and knows how mules work.
