Finding Dress Boots

To return them would be $15 for shipping to me, then probably $10-15 to ship back for a total of $25-30. This is another reason I’m hesitant to send them back. Opening isn’t until the 29th.

Do you have a link to the boots, Inclined?

SidesaddleRider, I am a US ladies 8, 15.25" calf, tall height (18 in excluding heel up back seam).

Here are a few I found at the lowest end of the price range, and there are probably more:

Some of them don’t give exact calf measurements, but the sellers can do that for you if you ask. Here’s the link to the Marlborough boot search:

Keep in mind that these were made in England and have UK shoe sizes printed inside. A UK 6 would be a US 8. Just to be sure, I usually ask the seller to measure the bottom of the foot (length and width) and compare it to a pair that I know fit me (like your field boots).

I’m so sorry that the ones from M’burg weren’t what they should have been! I hope this helps!

Thanks, Inclined! I’m thinking I may just keep the Middleburg ones since they fit so well and are broken in. I do wish they’d disclosed this…characteristic? I’m at the point where if I look at them, I can’t help but laugh. What in the world happened to the poor right boot?

If only they could talk! Maybe they hunted in Ireland and took a tumble in the water. :D. Seriously, if they’re comfortable, keep them - I’m still looking for a pair that feels as good as my jod boots and half chaps.

I have a pair of boots that are sort of like that re:one is more textured than the other. I bought them brand new and somewhere along the line I didn’t do a good job of putting them away in trees. The wrinkling happens when the leather stretches and doesn’t get adequate conditioning/drying. Honestly, no one can tell when you ride because it’s not like you see the boots side by side. I still show in them and they polish up fine. They are comfy as heck and about 10 years old, so I’m committed to them.

UPDATE: I rode in them Sunday and my gosh, how lovely it is to not have to break in tall boots! So comfortable–but I did have to have an assist with removal . Time to get a boot jack!

Also, what do you use to help get them on/off past the ankle (not including boot jack/pulls). The plastic bag method has been what works for me: I have high-ish arches, which makes it difficult, and would love to know what works for people in a similar situation with zipper-less boots.
