Finding pictures of my old OTTB?

I don’t know if this is realistic or not, figured I’d see what you guys thought. I read on another “help identify this horse” thread about matching a horse to its’ yearling photos if the tattoo was no longer ledgible. Is this standard procedure for the JC to have yearling pictures on file for every TB? I know my old ottb’s tat # and his identity, and I have his old win pictures (so cool!) but I thought it would be neat to see baby pictures or just candid shots of him running- google “racehorse” and there are all sorts of pics of horses running, not just win pictures.

How would I go about looking for that? Or will it even exist? Getting in touch with the old owner is not an option, it would need to be something online, whether from a database or maybe a track photographer. I no longer own him, so it’s not a life or death thing if I find anything, I was just curious. Thought it would be cool to see older pics of him from before I got him.

The horse was Dr Greeley, by Mr Greeley. Tattoo C05459. Canada-bred, IIRC. Ran in FL. Thanks!

Unless he’s a famous horse somehow, I’d say it’s really unlikely that there are any candids of him out there. If you can’t contact his breeders or previous owners, you’re probably out of luck.

The jockey club requires 4 photos for registration (front, rear, left & right views) and I’m sure they are on file somehow but I really don’t think you would be able to get a hold of them. You could try, the jockey club office has always been very helpful when I’ve called. You’re only out a toll free call and a few minutes of your time.

Great, thank you. I knew it was probably a long shot, I won’t be heartbroken if it’s not possible. Just curious.

From my experience, TJC does not give out identification pics. They are helpful, though. Your best bet is to contact breeder or old owners.

For younger horses you can always check on foaltrack.com

(your guy would be too old, don’t see anything by Mr. Greeley on there prior to 2008 year foals, sorry!)
