Firefox again...

The last time Firefox was bogging down here I just deleted cookies etc. and was good to go…

This time that didn’t work.

Anyone else having issues? Is it just my 'puter?

It’s 10:36 EST here. I’ve been running Firefox with no issues at this time. (Of course that’s subject to change as soon as I hit submit)

If it carries on, try to delete your cookies and your cache, if that fails turn it all off retry, if that fails reinstall FF.

Hope this helps

As a general FYI, we are due for a pruning of old threads, so that may contribute to some creakiness.

We’re going to be making some changes behind the scenes that should reduce our server load and make our pruning needs less frequent.

As for specific Firefox-related issues, I don’t have anything to add to the above suggestions at this point, but feel free to let us know if it gets worse/better.

Mod 1

Well, I deleted cookies and such, but not cache. Will try that tonight when I get home.

I am currently running Firefox in Safe Mode, and it went for a solid 2 hrs of browsing, opening more tabs, photos etc., before gumming up. Closed, repoened, Voila. So… I dunno what that means. I definitely will try clearing out the cache.

I prolly shouldn’t mention I’m still running windoze '98… :uhoh: Most damn reliable OS I’ve ever had, but she is 10 years old and the computer herself getting creaky. Not enough anything to bother upgrading…

Since I only have very slow dialup, and I only really do BBs & word processing, I’ve never really minded the old OS. I’ll be sad to see it go when the tower finally dies.

I gave up on FF and COTH and switched to Google Chrome. YMMV, but Chrome is much smaller, if you’re running on a less powerful comp.

eta: I decided it had something to do with caching, and found it worked better if I increased the cache size, but still funky.

I use Firefox on a Mac and a PC for Coth and have never had the problem. Adjust your settings a bit to play and see if that helps

COTH hasn’t worked for me on Firefox for many months now. I just get a teeny tiny, scrunched up mess in the top left hand corner of my screen that is way, way too small to read. COTH is the only site I visit that has this problem.

I hate being forced to use Explorer - grrr.

I use Firefox and I never have any problems with it.

Have you done a defrag recently? Unfamiliar with procedure - click on START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, SYSTEM TOOLS and DEFRAGMENTER (could be called DISK DEFRAGMENTER) This will help to organize your hard drive and may help. The process can take a while! If you have never done it, start it to run and go to bed! Should be done by morning!
