First Aid Storage Ideas

Just looking for ideas on what people store their medical supplies in. I board at a small barn and want to keep all my horse’s ointments, antibiotics, bute, bannamine, etc. somewhere that my barn manager can get to it easily (and find things easily!) if she needs it. Some of the first aid kit boxes (the human kind) don’t seem big enough and I love the idea of a cabinet but not sure there is any wall space for that. I currently have it in a plastic storage bin but it is the flat, shallow kind and takes up a lot of floor space.

Anyway, just curious if people use first aid kits, bins, bags, etc. I need to get my life organized! haha

I store all my supplies in this. It fits neatly into the managers of my trailer when I travel, and the wheels on it make it easy to move around the farm when I need to get it out and use it. It is also sturdy and heavy duty.

I don’t have any sort of prepared kit. I have the items I have used over the years that work for me and my horses, as well as the drugs my vet feels are important for me to keep on hand.

I keep small rubbermaid-type tote in the barn with bandaging materials: gauze, vetwrap, ABX ointment & other non-perishable first-aid stuff: thermometer, Epsom salts, Blu-Kote, DMSO roll-on.

Banamine injectable liquid needs to be kept refrigerated, even the paste form stores better @ a steady room temp. Same for ABX.
Unless your BO has a temperature-controlled storage room you are better off keeping these meds at home.
If BO has them on hand, offer to replace or pay for any needed for your horse.

Note the expiration date on your Bute or other pills & replace as needed.

This. Note that whatever size tote you buy, your supplies will expand to overflow it.

I have my first aid tote stuffed pretty tight but when an item is in regular use it stays in my grooming tote until no longer needed.

In my trailer I have a low cost plastic tool kit from Walmart that has a handle.
