First AQHA Working Hunter Under Saddle World Championship Show Class

No more “Wenglish” flat class delimma for those with Quarter Horse hunters who would like to enter AQHA shows. The Working Hunter Under Saddle class has it’s first World Champion at the Youth World Show. Nice, nice horse. (video below) The AQHA circuits with full hunter divisions are growing , at nice venues like the one I watched at the Ky Horse Park in June, with a Hunter Derby. Another large circuit in July at the Georgia Horse Park.

AQHA has again waived qualifying (too many cancelled shows over the winter) for the Open, Amateur and Select (over 50 rider) combined World shows this November in Oklahoma, which includes Level 1 in Amateur and Select where lease or ownership is not required.

Just thought I would let you all know.

I think we are only going to see this class improve. Considering how new it is, it has already improved since I first showed it at the NSBA last year. Horses are even more forward and most are ridden in a half seat. Soft, forward, connected, and expressive. Below is the link to the “ride the pattern” demo Lainie and Jessica did for the eq over, and the WHUS is at the end. She talks a bit about the progression of the class.

This horse is in my trainer’s barn and it’s been fun to watch him grow up in to a World Champion. The class just keeps getting better and better. I need my greenie to get with the program so we can go participate.
