First hand recommendations for buying agent in Europe (Germany - Holland - NL)

After a couple frustrating months of online and word-of-mouth horse shopping in the US & Canada, I think I need to go to Europe. Horses of the caliber I want seem common on overseas sites. I’d just like some guidance to go to several farms/horses in a smaller geographic area vs. 1 horse here, 1 horse there across the US. Been there - done that! Who has done this fairly recently with an honest and transparent agent they can recommend? I’d love to see some smaller farms too vs just the Big Names. I’m looking for fairly young (4-5y), but solid undersaddle foundation training. Don’t need a show record or the horse doing 2nd level. Just need a safe, healthy sane horse who can W/T/C, good brain, GOOD mover and ready to start their career. Feel free to PM if that’s easier! Thanks in advance!

I’ve messaged you! I’ve been based in Germany for over 14 years, so happy to help you if I can

Contact Klaus Schengber/KCS Imports. He has lived in the US for many, many years (in Maryland) and has been involved with breeding and young horse training for a long time. He is from Germany and has many contacts there. He makes regular trips to look for young prospects - I think he has a trip coming up in Oct. Give him your criteria and he will scout something for you. He is ethical and trustworthy - also nice and great fun. One of the good guys!

Thank you!

Sabine Rode at Stall Rode has found my coach and her students numerous nice German horses over the years, including my 6-year-old whom I bought off video a few years ago (which I never ever thought I’d do!). My coach has worked with her for 20+ years.

PM’d you.

I second Klaus Schengber. I have known him for many years and he is top notch. He does have a trip coming up in October.

Third Klaus. He is an absolute GEM of a human being. If I end up getting another horse and get one through Europe, he is at the top of my list to contact.
