I’ve ridden my mare in a hackamore previously but it’s been a long time and don’t know if my bridle and hackamore is fitting her correctly. I had to punch an extra hole in the cheek piece to raise the Hackamore up and it still looked a little low, and the curb chain seemed a little tight but I can get a finger in there. my mare is pretty much retired but when I rode her around the property today she was really good and very quiet, much more so than usual. I was very light in my hands but she was much more responsive. She did have a moment when I applied some pressure where she seem to be pretty resistive and for lack of a better word almost threw her head up and did some funny overextended trot steps but I’m not sure if that’s because of ill fit or just being not used to wearing the Hackamore again.
We had a little bit of headshaking as well but again it’s July 1 and flies are bad so it could be that as well. Just want to make sure I don’t have something on her that’s not fitting right or uncomfortable. Thanks!
