Flared Breeches-Anyone, Anyone?

Does anyone know where to purchase flared breeches or if they still make them anymore. If this has been asked I apologize. I have googled them but am not coming up with much. Are they called something else? Would love any ideas you may have! Thanks so much!

Hope this helps!

A member of the Fraser Valley Hunt got hers off ebay for $20.00.
she looks wonderful in them and they are heavy twill that stay warm in heavy rain!

Ladies are HARD to find!! However, ebay and Middleburg Tack Exchange are you best bet for finding ladies ones.

For men, Horse Country sells white ones, not sure about other colors. And again, ebay and the Tack Exchange are your best avenues! The guy I ride with just picked up a great heavy pair, with tie/button bottoms too boot!

You might check VTO Saddlery and look at their Royal Highness line - I know the men’s breech was pleated and has a slight flair to them.

And thanks for the link to the Fox Hunting Shop - I am on the hunt for men’s breeches that are pleated and reasonably priced, and oh yeah in the 28-32 waist range. Just about impossible to find.

I’ll look for pleated, but what I know as flared breeches are NOT pleated. They just flare out on the sides, kind of like old military pants.

Have you tried Mounted Police uniforms?

W W!

Thanks - if you find anything please let me know. And what I am looking for is not the old style military breech - a while ago, Horse County carried what they termed a “polo” breech, made by Wall, in a nice, non-spandexy material, pleated in front and very affordably priced.

One of my friends got her old fashioned flared breeches off ebay.

I totally missed them when searching thefoxhuntingshop.com. Looking to hard I guess. Thanks so much for all the great input! Flared breeches just look so classy as well as classic. Hope to sport them soon!

Another pair - REAL oldies!!!

but nothing compared to these!!!

Or two oldies for the price of one!

I have a pair that belonged to my great aunt (1909-1995), a heavy dark olive/brown twill that buttons on both sides (pre-cursor to side zips?). I tried them on a few months ago just for fun, and they actually fit (Aunt Mary was very, very short, but clearly leggy)! They’re too dark for me to wear during cubbing season, but maybe I’ll pull them out for spring hunterpaces-- they’d match my tweed perfectly.

Flared breeches

There’s a pair of women’s flared jodhpurslisted on EBay UK - item # 110198271281 - from a reputable seller (“Hogspear”) who often has nifty old huntin’ stuff up for auction, by the way.

In fact, try searching “vintage jodhpurs” - there are a few on both Ebay.com and Ebay.co.uk!

(it’s easy to have jodhpurs cut down to a breeches length)

Sweet! I like the ebay links! Interesting “button flap” fronts. Never seen them this way. But then again the ones I did see where usually on the rider in pictures. Thanks!

Great idea about cutting down jodphurs. Never thought about that!

I grew up wearing a pair of white cotton button up flap in front breeches that were hand-me-downs from a friend of my mother’s… see pics… I wore them on my small pony right through to my large pony… then they wore out…

Even if they hadn’t, I would NEVER be able to get into them NOW!!!

God bless stretch fabrics - though, I would LOVE a new pair of flares with stretch over the knees!! (and maybe in the butt area, too… :stuck_out_tongue: )

I remember someone posting on FOL about flared britches from

Evidently people are very very pleased with the quality of these - they are reproduction cavalry uniform britches.

Weatherford-What wonderful pictures! I am partial to Greys (currently have two). You are too cute as a child!

J Swan-Thanks for the military sight. Never thought of that although I did see some vintage ones up for auction on Ebay.
