Flasks

Should they be pewter, stainless-steel, or something else entirely?

Mine is pewter. My opinion? As long as it holds my drink hiccup I don’t care what it is…!! :)

Do you empty it out after a hunt or just leave the booze in it until the next one?

:lol::lol: Never ran into that problem!!:lol::lol:

They say you should not put liquers or anything containing fruit juice in the stainless ones.
So if you want to be able to have more variety to your libations I would recommend a pewter one. I would not recommend a glass one if you are a lady and should carry it in your pocket. If you were to come to grief it might not end well.

It’s bad luck to come home with an empty flask.

ETA - OH geez. Did I write that? It’s bad luck to come home with anything left IN the flask! Sorry for the confusion!

Stainless steel will flavor the contents if you leave it in for quite awhile. I try to either finish/share my contents or return them to the bottle at home after each hunt.

My Flasks are glass

Mine are all old and all glass. But they do go in the sandwich case. I don’t carry any on my person, maybe I should. If I happened to fall and Maurice ran off, I’d be without a drink.

I ordered one last week online called The Paris Flask. It’s plexiglass with stainless steel accents on top and bottom and a cap with a leash. And you can get initials or whatever engraved on the plexiglass part. Plus no issues with what’s in it with plexiglass haha.
i fell off once and had my steel flask in my coat pocket. It was a really bad fall, and my flask ended up bent like a fortune cookie. I was badly hurt, and had a bruised abdomen in addition to thanks to the flask.
So I liked this one and I thought it might be better in case I fell on it.
I think I got it at guntergifts or something like that.
I also found a flask while searching where you could send in a photo to have put on it. THey looked kind of nice from the photos.

jmho!

The “cap with a leash” is the most important thing!!!

That’s what I was thinking. I want something that holds the cap to the flask.

Unless I pick up something at our season-end silent auction, I’ll probably buy something from this site:

www.pewter.co.uk

They seem to have reasonable prices.

Wow!

Wow, simply wow! Aren’t those gorgeous!

And I like the “captive tops”…“often easier to handle for elderly people”…:uhoh::uhoh::uhoh::uhoh::p:p:p

I once had a beautiful flask–I believe it was stainless, but it might have been pewter. It had a hunting scene on one side, and a racing scene on the other. The detail is AMAZING! When I was in middle school the cool thing to do was carry a flask with a “mocktail”… I put ginger ale in mine and it exploded on a lark. I kept the flask (now horribly dented and no longer holds liquid) in hopes of one day finding a replacement.

There are some beautiful flasks on these links… none are quite like my now dented and deformed one, but I think I might need to make a flask order none-the-less.

Thanks for the links!

If you are male, it “should” be a conical crystal flask with a silver bayonet cap.

But, anybody who cares what you carry in your pocket can easily be dealt with by smacking your lips and putting it back in your pocket empty.

I think I win this one: our local dollar store has VERY nice ss flasks - the slightly rounded square ones, if that makes sense; screw-top lid with hinge so you won’t lose it. A whopping $4.

Whoever liked the ones with the engravings - keep an eye on Ebay UK - often see them there.

Rom - are those the plastic kind? Because I am really looking for one - freeze 1/2 to melt as I ride. Cool water - refreshing.

Moi? If it’s me you’re asking, then, no, they’re stainless steel, no doubt made in China.

Same shape/look as this one (I just searched Ebay):

Without those little cups. Which look adorable. Lawdie, do I ever need to get a life!

Anyway, I also googled the Paris flask as mentioned by Jaegermonster - they look rather nice!

But if you need me to go trawling the aisles of the neighbourhood $ store, just pm me, and I’ll be happy to oblige.

It came yesterday and is very nice. Had it’s maiden voyage this morning and was a big hit. Our JtMFH/Huntman even ooohed and ahhed and thought it would be a nice hunt auction item with the logo on it.
The flask actually looks much nicer in person than it did on the site.

It’s marked down…

Ladies, go for it. The flask even has a leash on it. And the price is…but it’s marked down

Nice! It would be interesting to know how much the nine rejected offers were for, too.
