I’m looking for a saddle pad. I love my Mattes sheepskin half-pad, but want a full contour pad. I like the idea that the Therawool can be machine washed. Any experience with these products?
I have one of the square pads. I prefer the “spine free” design of Mattes, and the quilt on the fleeceworks doesn’t wash that great…and I had to sew the velcro back on after a little bit (I got the shimmable pad). But the wool is easy to care for and served the purpose I needed wool for. I have a Le Mieux merino pad (dressage only as it seems you can’t get the jump one anymore?) and it’s a much nicer pad and nicer wool IMO. Also with a spine channel. Maybe try the Mattes gold line?
I tried one but I didn’t like how it fit with my saddle. Another plug here for the Merino Lemieux. I’m not sure if they come in hunter/contour versions but they do have jump pads. I liked the first one so much I now have three. Yes they are expensive but wear incredibly well and fit well too.
