I saw it too… I thought that was just another variety of clover or something. I have two plants I know of, both outside the paddock, along the driveway. Now I know, and will not only be on the lookout for it, but will be onthe lookout for some of the herbicides that might kill it. http://sfbfp.ifas.ufl.edu/articles/article_2013_june.shtml
Just thought I should bring this thread back to the attention of all the horse people in Florida. there is a lot of information on this Homepage http://www.ninaswarriors.com
I think it is something everybody in Florida should be aware of. Creeping Indigo is everywhere and it is very dangerous for horses if they eat to much of it. There is also an FB page with a lot of helpful information about it.
Something to think about… Some show grounds in my area seem to be covered with it. So if you show and let your horse graze and are not familiar with this plant, there is a danger, that your horse will eat it.
Bump, please be AWARE! Creeping indigo is a prostrate plant, and will literally creep into your pasture grass without you noticing it. Small ingestion amounts cause subtle neurological signs such as tripping. Horses LOVE this legume, and will seek it out. If your horse is exhibiting neurological signs and you live in Florida, SCOUR your pasture, you might be surprised by what you find!
I don’t know how official this map is. The latest entry on this map was April, 2015.
Florida is absolutely polluted with incidents:(

I’m in TN, close to the AL border and that is close enough for me to call my AG guy Monday morning and ask him about this.
