Hi, I came across a relatively new method of fly control that is apparently being used a lot in dairy farming now, and has been tested safe for all animals and people and beneficial insects. I hate using the normal flysprays, since they have toxic compounds in them. I’m wondering if anyone has heard of this/used this for horse barns and if so if it worked well or not? Apparently it can be used as both a general spray for the property but also directly on animals.
I’ve not heard of this but it helps to include a link to what you’re talking about. I assume it’s this.
That’s awfully spendy. Curious what response you get about it.
Hi, yes that it is it. The 15 ounce bottle is concentrated and according to them is enough to treat over an acre of for 21-90 days
from the above product data sheets regarding equines
balEnce™ MIXING AND USAGE GUIDELINES
balEnceTM Spray for Adult Flies One 15 oz. bottle of balEnceTM Spray treats 25,000 sq. ft.
1,000 square feet - 0.6 oz. of balEnce™ in one gallon of water
2,000 square feet - 1.2 oz. of balEnce™ in two gallons of water
5,000 square feet - 3.0 oz. of balEnce™ in two gallons of water
10,000 square feet - 6.0 oz. of balEnce™ in two gallons of water
Each 15oz. bottle makes 25 gallons
To me using 25 Gallons of spray would wear me put to the point I would not care about the flies that survived being drown.
The recommended usage for equines is just over 1/2 acre per bottle (0.57 of an acre)
also states effective time coverage is temperature dependent but does not explain the temp range. Suspect as the temps rise the less effective? But here once we enter in drought condition that kills off the flies also
